Spell Bearer: Introduction



As Akino survey the arena, she find it wide enough maybe even spacious. The bleachers are elevated. The battle ground is deep enough, away from the students at the bleachers. No one can be accidentally engaged into the battle thus I won't hold back not now not ever. I learned that from a certain someone in a hard way.

"No matter whom you're facing, a mere opponent or an enemy when it's a battle, you never hold back, never Akino. Do not hesitate even if it's you brother your facing." Akino faced him and looked right in his eye. "Do you understand?"

"Yes father." As she try to show him the determination within her.

"Good. Now, start again."

Akino blinked once and twice snapping her to reality.

Among the audience she saw Aru with a worried expression on his face. She caught his eyes and sent him a reassuring smile. Don't worry brother.

Now looking at Anton at the opposite side of the arena and he's currently facing a small-circled mirror in his hand. Ugh, he's so full of himself. Your handsome alright but not strong enough to beat us.

"Admiring yourself just before a duel huh. That's just you Anton. I would try to bond with my familiar deeper if I were to battle me." Akino called, getting his attention away from the mirror.

"I might not able to defeat your twin brother but you're not as strong as him. We've trained for the past weeks, we can beat you" he answered back.

"Let's-"

"This duel is an evaluation of how much you learned from me for the whole semester. You will battle only with your familiars. Attack, only to disarm your opponent. I repeat only to disarm. . . . . Are you ready?" bellowed Teacher Dan.

Oh yes I'm ready.

"Summon your familiars" as Teacher Dan started the duel.

Anton held his hand with wad of written spells. "Rise my familiars". The spells glowed and transform into white cranes flying towards Akino. "Conquer thy enemy before me." Anton commanded.

Cranes? Cranes? Is he really still testing me?

"Aira, destroy them!".

Right then, a powerful gust of wind surged, deflecting the birds. The cranes, unable to fly forward, was ripped into pieces by the fierce slice of winds and disintegrate into particles. A maiden clothed with white sleeveless blouse tucked in pale brown short shorts appeared in front of Akino, ready to defend her master. At her hands a giant fan, nearly a yard long with red edges and white filling.

"Excited are we?" Anton glared at his opponent. "Wait until I'll best you" Aton with a lowered voice, summoned his armored offensive familiar on the lead. His familiar has iron covered body with his bow and arrow at the ready.

"Scorch her, Sho." As Sho gatthered enough mana to released his arrow, creating a mass streak of fire towards his owner's opponent.

Quickly, Aira ascended into the air, gathering wind from all entrances creating a spherical tornado. With her and Akino protected, Aira's fast swirling cool wind keeps the fire at bay. But Sho increased the intensity of his fire nearly entering Aira's safe sphere.

"Zeus lightning bolt!" Anton roared summoning Zeus beside him by waving his hand to his right.

And I was so assuming that he can only control one! Hold on Aira.

Zeus struck the ground with his lightning spear. Crackling lighting joined the streak of fire twirling. The color combination is beautiful, orange-red and bright blue strong together making Aira's wall of wind thinner.

Ace, water nebula.

Water forming from the atmosphere started to rise surrounding Aira's wind sphere. Steam made by the fire and water contact covered the whole arena. Anton not able to see through the fog called his familiars closely beside him. "Be ready and careful, she's strong enough to summon two at once."

As the mist slowly fades, Anton saw a man dressed in all dark. grey v-neckline shirt topped with black rugged jacket, grey jeans and black short boots. Black unruly hair, ears with black studded earrings.

In the arena, it started to rain. Sir Aldan brought and opened his black automatic umbrella.

He anticipated this huh. He knew my element.

Each of them looking at their opponent, contemplating what to do now that their familiars are all summoned and showed their abilities.

Freeze the air, Ace. Akino commanded in her mind and instantly the air became freezing cold, the rain froze midair and the floor also starts to freeze.  That included the armored familiars but they repelled the ice with the heat of their fire and lightning elements.

Quickly Aira leaped and slashed her fan directly towards Anton. Sho, seeing Aira's fast attack, struggled to get off the ice but able to protect Anton with his armored arm from Aira's sharped-giant fan. But Aira in her advantage severed Sho's arm and attacked again this time blocked by Sho's bow. Anton backed away from the familiars. Zeus trying to help his comrade is stopped by Ace's blade of ice. On the other side, Sho losing one arm and gained a slash of strong wind from Aira's fan across his chest. The damage is done and he began to distort.

His familiars are weak. They can no longer stand another attack. Geez, appearance is one thing but familiars have to be strong in power not strong in looks.

"Dematerialize Sho, go back." Anton cried. As his owner commanded, Sho transform into a ruler-long chain hooking onto Anton's wrist.

Ace and Zeus continue to fight each other. Zues' spear tries to block Ace's ice sword. Aira's knives of compressed wind hit Zeus' back, cutting through his armor. Using her fan, she swung Zeus up into the air and then pushed him down into the spikes on the ground made by Ace.

On the top of his voice Anton shouted. "Stop, Akino! I surrender."

"That is enough Akino, the duel is won." said Dan just as the armored familiar be punctured by the spikes.

Aira fanned Zeus away from the spikes and rolling him to his owner. Anton crouched to Zeus who materialized into another chain clasping Aton's free wrist. Akino let Ace let go of the ice, it had disappeared and so thus the cold.

Sir Aldan who is still holding his umbrella up. "Akino won the duel but both of you passed the secondary exams. You both were strong to summon and control two familiars at once but someone has to win isn't it. Those are quite strong familiars Akino." At that Anton turned back and exited the arena.

Not able to accept that a transferee defeated you huh, well I'll be surprised myself.

Now I was able to hear the waning sounds of claps from the audience. Akino saw Aruko and smiled triumphantly.

"Thank you Ace and Aira. You can now go back. " as she smiles in front of the two. Ace disappeared and Aira turned into a red key-chained-feathered fan bounded with Akino's chain bracelet.

I sighed. "You too Ace." By that Ace turned into intricate snowflake pendant of my necklace.
