The eye of the day was weakening as Ash sat on the rock, a sorrowful expression drawn on his face. With a hand he gently moved his hand to the brook before him and collected the water, not for any particular reason but merely to feel the flow.
"Why can't life be as simple. Just flowing through..."
Ash said, grumbling a little to himself.
"Maybe life is that simple. But we choose to complicate it."
A voice resounded from behind him. It had some kind of tone to it. A tone which made it sound like the sparkling stream itself. He turned around, to find a girl.
Her hair was blonde, coming to her shoulder. Her eyes sparkled a bright blue, complemented by her red lips. Her figure was rather more of the hourglass type and her smile was one of a kind. She wore a white dress, coming down to her ankles. With his attention on her, she spoke again.
"Life is that simple. Don't you think? We are born, we survive and then we die. But it's what we do that complicates it."
Ash merely stared with wonder at this philosopher.
"I am Ash."
"And I am Quinn."
She said, offering her hand for him to shake. As he shook it, he continued, "Quinn. That is a nice name."
"So, did you come to the brook to let go your sadness as well? " Ash asked.
"Not all of us turn to nature to deal with our emotions. Some of us just admire its beauty." Quinn said, waving her hand in the air, to feel the trunk of a tree nearby. "Besides, had it not been for the brook, I would not have met you today, would I?" Quinn asked, a smile on her face as she bent to feel the water in her own hands.
"So tell me, Ash, what is it that weighs you down?"
Something about this girl; Ash didn't know what it was, but it was enough to convince him that he could trust her. With that in heart, he spoke.
