The sky lit up with lightening seconds before the deafening thunder shook the apartment. The slightly less deafening squeal that followed belonged to one particular Erskine Ravel, who was hiding under his bed.
The apartment door swung open and a soaking wet yet surprisingly cheerful Hopeless walked in. "Sorry I'm late, there's kind of a thunderstorm and I forgot an umbrella. I also had to walk because I was an idiot and decided to walk to the shops in the first place. Also the toilet paper I bought is a tad wet..." Hopeless trailed off when he noticed Ravel wasn't in the room. He dumped the heap of soaked toilet paper on the kitchen bench before walking into the bedroom.
"Ravel?" He called out when he couldn't see the other man. He was about to callout again when he was drowned out by more thunder. A high pitched squeak of terror alerted Hopeless to where Erskine was and he crouched down next to the bed.
"Hey. You alright?" Hopeless asked, tilting his head to look at Ravel.
"Fine. I'm fine. It's just lightening. Just thunder." He said, trying to sound confident but failing miserably.
"Sweetie. Come on out. There's nothing to be afraid of." Hopeless chuckled slightly as he helped Erskine out from under the bed, wrapping an arm around him.
"Would you like a cup of tea?" He offered, a trembling Erskine in his arms.
"N-no thanks." He mumbled, hiding his face in Hopeless' shirt. Hopeless picked him up and placed him on the bed, sitting with him."What's so bad about a little light and noise?" Hopeless asked, looking down at him.
"When you say it like that I sound pathetic..." Erskine grumbled.
"Aww Sweetie. You could never be pathetic. Besides, this seems to be your only weakness. That and rolling your ankle. You're even better at that than I am." Hopeless chuckled, wrapping his arms around Ravel.
"That's surprising, considering how clumsy you are."
"I'm not clumsy. The world runs into me. And trips me over. And makes me look like a fool doing so."
"Does the world also make you forget things? And decide to walk in the rain? Babe you're soaked." Hopeless chuckled. "And so are you now. You're welcome." He said triumphantly. Ravel glared at him but could only keep it up for a few seconds before smiling again."I suppose the thunder isn't too bad if you're with me..." He mumbled, resting his head on Hopeless' shoulder and taking his hand.
"I still can't believe my brave Erskine Ravel is afraid of thunder." He giggled, gaining a playful punch from Ravel. "Oh shut up you. You're afraid of spiders."
"That's because they're terrifying." He exclaimed indignantly.
"Only if they're 6 foot tall and go by the name of The Torment." Ravel teased, pecking Hopeless' lips lovingly.
"That particular spider is quite terrifying, yes." He chuckled before sighing happily and laying back against the bedhead.
"I love you." Erskine whispered into his ear before kissing down his neck lightly.
"I love you too." Hopeless mumbled back sleepily as he closed his eyes.
