Beep Beep Beep the ECG machine kept beeping. How many times had she heard this beep? Maybe a hundred thousand? Samantha wondered. This bed had been nothing short of a sanctuary to her. She was always here dutifully between 5.pm and 9.pm. It was a bad and good thing. Bad in the sense that Dave didn't wake up and her love for him kept increasing. Good in the sense that his bed offered her a haven to think. Somewhere to rest and relax her mind away from her struggles and life.

Life...She'd been thinking of what life was and its value. It hadn't been easy but she was coping as expected; Caroline and Gerald were helping. They weren't pushy on her at all; they were just gentle and calm telling her the truth which was sinking in. Her mom was also very nice.

She glanced at the clock; it was 8:50.pm...only 30 minutes till Bill got on the 'Dave watch' and her mom picked her. She had stopped driving since the accident; it was too terrifying. Bill she was amazed at how punctual and dedicated he was. She never suspected or imagined even that a gang lord will care over such but Bill had been as dedicated as she was; always carrying out his shift. She could also sense that Bill was a former man of faith. He was so Christian even in his roughness. She hoped he figured everything out for himself, whether she became a Christian or not, she wasn't going back to the street.

9:00...9:30 and Bill hadn't arrived strange. Her mom also wasn't there yet. She decided to call her mom since neither her mom, her new besty Linda or Bill had showed up. Ring...Ring...and on the third ring her mother picked

"Hello Mom"

"Andrea"

Immediately Andrea heard the ECG make a strange sound...Andrea looked only to see Dave stirring and his eyes twitching

"Mom!" she exclaimed "Mom..."

"Honey I'm afraid Linda's' been kidnapped"

"What! No!"

"I'm working with Bill on her recovery"

"Mom I think Dave just woke up"

"What! Run go tell the nurse and with that she hung up"

Samantha ran to get the nurse and in 10 minutes, the nurse ad Dr Myers confirmed Dave was out of Coma. They instructed Samantha to carefully wait on him and make sure he didn't attempt coming down when he awoke again.

"Dave!!!...Dave its me Samantha"

Dave tried to fit the voice but his brain wasn't cooperating. His eyes hurt but he attempted opening them to identify who was speaking to him.

Blurry...that was all he saw first black lines then white lines then grey lines then a mixture of all three. Maybe there was soap in his eyes. Yes! he had to go to the bathroom wash his face. He jerked but he was chained to something.

"Dave...I'm Dr. Myers...Don't try moving...Do you hear me Dave?"

He wanted to say yes but his lips refused opening. He pushed at it.

"y-y-y-ye-s-s" He finally said

"Don't bother talking just nod when I speak Dr. Myers said

"you're not at home...you were in an accident...you almost died..being asleep 6 months...do you read me?

Dave slowly nodded his head

"Good...we're not sure all your motor skills will recover so you need to be still. We'll run some tests"

Dave nodded again

"Do you recognize her voice...the girl with you?"

Dave shook his head slowly

Samantha put her hand to her mouth to avoid screaming. Dave! What do you mean! I've been here half a year and you don't know my voice! Almost as if he were sensing her anger Doc Spoke up

"Samantha..it takes them time to remember. His memory might never fully recover, but he'll remember you. I promise"

Samantha took a few seconds to let this sink in.

"Now , why don't you call the other share the good news" Dr. Myers said as he left

Dave didn't hear anything. He heard shuffling. Then nothing. An hour passed...2 hours..by now his vision had started clearing a bit. Then he head feet shuffling

Dave!" a voice said

He knew this voice. He had to place it. It wa feminine...someone he knew...very well But who wa it?

"Mom"

"No Davey"

"Caroline?!"

"Yes Dave" Caroline said

He could feel the joy around

"He remembers someone Samantha exclaimed"

"Dave i'm here with Samantha, Gerald, Paul and Peter,do you remember them?"

Dave shook his head

"Well Dave, we're all happy to have you back. There's a situation but God is in control" Caroline said

Linda Corbs started around her and all around was darkness, more darkness and yet more darkness. She had been like this 12 hours and the darkness never faded. She tried to retrace what happened

She had been at the farmers market getting some tomatoes when she noticed a guy following her. On first instinct she ignored him and deemed herself paranoid believing she wa only scared but he persisted. She doubled her steps and headed for her car. She thought about calling Bill but on a second thought she decided not to disturb him for any bad reason. 5 steps to her car, a second guy blocked her front and in 3 seconds she wa blacked out. She awoke 3 hours later only to find herself in a room in front of a video camera. A pot belied man Spanish was seated

"Oh Good you're awake" he said

"Now Linda, You might not remember me but i'm Santiago Reves, the demon who claimed your husband. Well he's running with my money and I want it back so you'll look in the camera and at the count of 3, you'll beg for your life cause I will kill you" he said showing off a gun

"You're on in 1,2,3" his assistant said as one of the guys covered her mouth

Linda was still in shock. She couldn't speak when the camera was turned on. She was too stunned

"Say something!" Santiago roared

Linda still couldn't speak

Santiago stood up, walked across and gave her a slap

"Now speak"

At this point, her situation finally set in. She was in the hands of someone who hated Bill but had been a 'mentor' to him and she would cause herself more harm is she didn't speak. The taste of blood on her tongue confirmed this state

"Bill" she finally spoke "Bill...Santiago is angry...I know you might not love me but for the sake of the Love we once shared and Dave I beg you to pay his money"

"Well done dollie...what took you so long?"

The camera shifted to Santiago

"So Billie boy...i know you love Lindsey here...so you will return $1,000,000 to my account and you will return all my bandits. That clear? Ciao, you have 24 hours"

After that she had been knocked out again. It took her 4 hours to wake up. From then till now, she had been in the same bleak darkness.

She didn't understand herself. She ought to be hungry, scared, many things but she was very calm as if she were in her room without power. Anyways, she hoped Bill made it in time.
