Chapter 4

This is going to be hard!

"Well, we better start climbing!" I say nervously and take hold of the wall.

"This sucks!" Bianca complains next to me and we start climbing at a fast pace.

"Yeah, but, at least we won't have to do this again! It'll be over before we know it! As long as we...you know...don't fall." I look down and then shove my head back up. How did we get so high so fast?!

"Well, we've still got a lot left!" Bianca sighs and we continue climbing in silence. As we get higher, some people around us fall. My arms start to hurt but I don't say anything. Unfortunately, Bianca decides to complain. "This sucks! My arms are killing me!" She whines.

"It'll be over soon. Just be positive." I smile.

"Ugh, I don't understand how you can be so positive, Gina!" Bianca whines.

"Well, whenever I'm feeling upset, or want to quit, I just think of my son and husband. I'm sure they're waiting for me somewhere! I can't give up now, or I'll never find them. All the hard work I did for years will be lost, and I can't let that happen! This is just another obstacle standing in my way, and nothing more." I narrow my eyes determinedly and climb even faster. I think I can almost see the top! The sun is hot and it's burning my skin, but I don't care. I need to reach the top!

"Ugh, you're such a saint!" Bianca cries and catches up with me.

"Come on, just a little longer! I can see the top!" I grin and put my hand over the ledge. I pull myself over and then do the same to Bianca. We collapse on the ground, panting.

"We did it!" Bianca cheers.

"Yeah!" I nod and smile, looking around. There's still a lot of people around, but not a lot of girls. I think I see about one or two others. Ugh! We wait for a little while until a huge blimb flies by onto the wall.

"CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE PASSED THE FIRST STAGE OF THE HUNTER EXAM! YOU WILL NOW BE GETTING ON THE HUNTER ASSOCIATION BLIMP WHICH WILL DELIVER YOU TO THE SECOND STAGE!" Our instructor says and I walk up to him.

"Um, sir? I would just like to say thank you for everything. I'm Gina Freecss. Could you please tell me if you see my husband and son, Ging and Gon, anywhere?" I ask him quickly. His eyes widen.

"YOU'RE GING'S WIFE?! YOU'RE ALIVE?! HE WAS SO UPSET WHEN THE CHAIRMAN MADE HIM ADMIT THAT YOU DIED! I CAN'T WAIT TO TELL HIM!" Our instructor screams. Did he actually...just get louder?

"No, please don't! I'd like to find him myself." I smile. The man considers this and wipes a tear from his eye.

"AHHH LOVE! WHY ART THOU SO MAJESTIC?!" He screams dramatically, sparkles appearing around him and I back away.

"O-okay! See you later!" I wave nervously and get on the blimp. The group that made it is greeted by none other than Chairman Netero!

"It'll take us a little while to get to our next destination, maybe about five hours. Feel free to do whatever you want until then." He announces and the group sighs.

"I'm going to the kitchen, I want some food." Bianca tells me. I nod.

"Have fun, I'll see you in a little while. I've got something to do." I wave and she walks off in the direction of the kitchens. I walk up to Chairman Netero. He stares at me. I shift uncomfortably. "Uh, hi." I say. Nice going, Gina! He probably thinks you're someone else or something. All I know is that you're dumb! I have a mental beat down session while he stares at me. Soon, he snaps out of it.

"Oh, hello! You just remind me of someone that I used to know. She's dead now." He laughs.

"Yeah well, she's not! It's me, Gina!" I exclaim.

"No, that's not possible. The Gina I know died at sea. We never found her body. Her husband was devastated." Chairman Netero shakes his head. My eye twitches.

"Fine, don't believe me. Can you at least tell me where Ging is?" I ask annoyedly.

"Ging? Why would you want to know about him?" Chairman Netero asks.

"Because he's my husband!" I say angrily.

"How would you know about that? The only ones attending Ging's wedding were me, Beans, and a select few other Hunters. Unless..." Chairman Netero looks at me closer. "Gina!" He yells happily.

"It took you long enough!" I laugh.

"You're alive! How?! Wait, tell me over some tea. I'll invite the other instructors and we'll talk over tea." He drags me to a small room with five people sitting in it. I recognize my first instructor. There's two other women and two other men. They must be the other instructors. I sit down next to Beans, who's here too. The tea is set on the table and Chairman Netero sighs.

"We've got a very interesting future Hunter today." He grins. "This is Gina, Ging's wife." He announces and everyone in the room goes crazy except for Chairman Netero, Beans, and my first instructor.

"What?! She's supposed to be dead! I even attended the funeral!" A girl with blonde pigtails says. Everyone else says things like that until Chairman Netero tells them to shut up.

"I know, it's amazing! And to think, Ging cried so much and he didn't even leave his house. Not even for missions!" Beans laughs. I blush. That makes me both happy and really sad.

"I can't wait to tell him!" Chairman Netero grins.

"Please don't! I want to find him myself. But, you can give me some useful information about where he is." I say.

"Hmm. Useful information...I might have some of that. But, I'll only tell you after you pass the Hunter Exam!" Chairman Netero grins mischievously. Everyone sighs.

"You really have a mean streak." The blonde shakes her head.

"I've got to go find my friend. It's been nice meeting you! I can't wait to have you all as examiners!" I wave and walk off to find Bianca. When I do, she's sitting by the window. It's night outside. I watch the little lights twinkling like stars in the sky.

"What was that about?" She asks me.

"I'm friends with Chairman Netero and I guess he was really happy to see me again. He promised to give me some info on Ging, but only after I pass the exam." I explain. Bianca nods and we sit there for the rest of the time, watching the scenery.
