Him and Him – Chapter One
Connor's POV
"Oh, relax, have some fun. Daniel and I will be right here at the bar if things go sour." Joey said, urging me to socialize. "I've never been to one of these places before." I said nervously. "You're only going to break out of your comfort zone if you allow yourself to. That guy over there is giving you the look. Go over and say hi." Joey said as he sipped on his Cosmo. "Alright." I said and took a deep breath.
This was my first time at a gay bar, and it wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be to talk to men. I took another deep breath as I sipped my cocktail and walked over to him. He was cute, and very attracted to me, I could tell. "Hi." I said with a smile, playing with my hair as I talked to him. "Hi, my name's Jackson. Jackson Carter." He said, his eyes were so dreamy, the perfect shade of blue to match the ocean. "I'm Connor, Connor Franta." I said, holding my hand out to shake his without breaking eye contact. When he shook my hand, his grip was firm and sent chills through my body. "Is this your first time coming to a gay bar?" He asked as he sat down on a nearby chair. I nodded my head, speechless, as I sat down across from him. I looked over at Joey, who was giving me a thumbs up and nodding his head. Maybe gay bars weren't so bad after all.
Jackson's POV
"You can call me Jack by the way." I said as I took a swig of my beer. "I really like that name." He said, giving me a shy little smile. I was genuinely fond of this guy, he was sweet and shy and even though I didn't know much about him, I certainly liked him. I played with my dark brown hair as Connor told me about himself, I listened intently to every single word that flowed out of his mouth angelically. His eyes were such a beautiful green that I couldn't help but stare. "Tell me a little about you?" He asked. "I'm into sports, beer, Pretty Little Liars, cats, and of course, men." I said with a chuckle. "I have two cats back home in Minnesota!" He said, finding something in common between the two of us. "I have a cat here, her name is Snow, but she's a black cat." I said. Connor chuckled. "Oh, the irony!" He exclaimed, making me laugh along with him.
This guy was really something.
Connor's POV
That night I went to bed happy. I got Jack's phone number and texted him goodnight before I fell asleep. He was really cute, his bright blue eyes and his deep brown hair, his masculine voice and his muscles, his tall figure and gorgeous smile. He was adorable, and just what I needed right now. When I woke up in the morning, I got read my texts, two of which were from Jack. One read, 'Goodnight, cutie' with a heart emoji, and the other read 'We should get together. Coffee at eleven?" And of course, I had to say yes to the coffee, who doesn't adore coffee?! So I texted back, agreeing to the coffee date and he said that he'd meet me at his favorite little coffee joint, which also happened to be my favorite coffee joint too! The things that Jack and I had in common made it so much easier to fall head over heels in love with him.
It was nine o' clock, and I spend every moment I could getting ready. I spent way too long picking an outfit, and way too long doing my hair, and waaaaaay too long worrying if he was going to like how I looked. But nonetheless, I walked out of my house feeling confident, as usual.
The coffee joint was practically empty, which didn't make much sense for a Sunday morning, but still an enjoyable place to be. "You look really nice today." Jack said as he sipped his cappuccino. "You don't look too bad yourself, mister." I said with a smile, making him blush just a little bit. "Okay, what do you do for a living?" Jack asked. Oh, no. The dreaded 'I'm a YouTuber' conversation. "I make YouTube videos." I said nervously. "That is so COOL!" Jack got super excited. I was so relieved that he understood what I did for a living. "What do you do?" I asked in return. "I'm a lawyer." He said smiling. "Does this mean I get to call you Mr. Carter now?" I asked. "Only in the bedroom." He said with a wink.
For a good two hours, we talked and sipped on warm coffee beverages, until Jack said, "I gotta go, I have plans with a client, we have to go over custody agreements and stuff like that. I hate to cut this date short, but I really have to." I wasn't mad at all; it was so nice of him to talk to clients even on his off days. "I understand, let me walk you to your car." I said with a smile and we both left the coffee place.
The whole ride home I was smiling like an idiot, thinking about our first date. The minute I got home, I opened the group chat that contained my friends from O2L, a collab channel that I was formerly in. "Your boy has got a potential boyfriend on his hands!" I texted and my phone buzzed with excitement, everyone was happy for me, but I was the happiest. I described Jack to the guys, and they all thought he was perfect for me, especially because of cats and coffee. But soon, the conversation went completely in a different direction, but I didn't care, I was so happy that nothing could ruin my mood.
Jack was certainly the right guy for me.
