Him and Him – Chapter Nine

Connor's POV

"... Jade." I said with a beaming smile. "Jade?" The woman asked. "Yes, Jade." Jack confirmed. "You know Jade's not little, she's fifteen." The woman said. "We know, and we'd like to adopt her." I said, getting a bit annoyed with this woman. "Okay, let me get you the paper work and if you get approved, I will call you." She said we walked out of the adoption center – beaming smiles plastered across our faces.

Jade's POV

"Guess what, Jade?" Mrs. Gem asked as she peered her head into my bedroom. "You snagged me an extra cookie from lunch?" I asked, that's what she usually did whenever we had cookies for desert. "No, you're getting adopted." She said. My heart fell into my stomach from excitement. I got up off my bed and ran into her arms, tears streaming down my face as I cried of joy. "You're getting adopted, Jade." Mrs. Gem said as she stoked my jet black hair with her comforting hand.

I immediately ran out of my room as Mrs. Gem left, hoping that Kimmy was still in her room and not in the library like she usually was. When I approached her room, I burst through the door with tears in my eyes. "Jade! What's wrong?!" She asked as she sprang up from her bed to hug me. "I'm getting adopted!" I screamed and she started crying too, we embraced instantly, both of us extremely happy for me. "I'm gonna miss you J." She said as she squeezed me tighter. "Don't worry, I'll be back to visit. I'm just so happy, Kimmy." I said and she let go of me, holding my face in her hand. "I know, baby. I know." She said and hugged me again.

~The next day~

Connor's POV

"Do you want to come with us to pick up Jade? Or do you want to just go to the house with the rest of the guys?" I asked Kian and Jc as we were walking out of their house. "I'll go to your house with them. Your brothers and sisters are there too, right? Jackson's family? Everyone?" Jc asked. "Yes, everyone is there already, so get your butts moving because the adoption center is really close to our house." Jack says as we shut the door behind us, getting into his car and drive to the center.

"Hey, Jade." I say as I walk in, seeing her on her phone while she waits in a bean bag chair. "Connor! Jack!" She screams as she jumps into our arms. When she lets go, Jack grabs her two suitcases and walks to the car with them. "I just have to sign some papers; do you need to say goodbye to anyone while I do?" I asked Jade and she nods before running down the hall. I quickly sign the custody papers and run down the hall to see where Jade vanished to. It wasn't that hard to find her, however. "Is this your friend?" I ask as I walk in. "Yeah, Connor, this is Kimmy." Jade says and Kimmy runs up to hug me. "Thank you for making her life so much better." Kimmy says as she lets go of me. "Anytime." I say with a smile. "Okay, Connor. I'm ready to go." Jade says as she waves goodbye to her friend.

"By the way, you can call me dad." I say as we walk out of the adoption center, causing Jade to tear up a little.

Jade's POV

As we pulled up to Connor and Jack's house – sorry, I mean my fathers' house – I got so excited. I saw so many cars in the driveway that it was unbelievable. "How many people live here?" I asked, very confused. "Just us three, there's a surprise for you in there." Jack said with a smile. "Okay, dad." I said, happily beaming. "Oh, and by the way, I've decided that I'm going to call Jack dad but Connor daddy. So you don't get confused. Cool?" I ask as I get out of the car.

"SURPRISE!!!" A large crowd of people shout as I walk through the door, with my dads following shortly behind. "Hi! I'm Jade." I say with the hugest smile. "We know who you are, but let us introduce ourselves." A woman says. Once everyone introduces themselves, I figure out who I have as family. I've got a Nana and Papa, Auntie Nicola, Uncle Bandon, and Uncle Dustin on my daddy's side (Connor's side). And I've got a Gram and Pepe, Uncle Josh, and Auntie Jessie on my dad's side (Jack's side). I smile and look around the room, smiling at all the people I would soon grow to love, and who already loved me.

~Later that evening~

Jade's POV

"Woah! This is my room?" I ask as I walk into what looked like a master bedroom. "Yup, all yours." Dad says as I spin around, looking at all the nice things they've put in my room. "This is so amazing. Thank you dad and daddy." I say with a huge smile as I hug them. "We're glad you like it, princess." Daddy says, making me smile even bigger than before, if that was even possible.

I got adopted ... and it was the best feeling ever.
