Dorian's POV-

I was really shocked. I haven't talked to her for so long. Come to think of it I don't remember exactly why we stopped talking to each other. I just remembered there was some sort of a fight that happened between us. We used to be close friends. What happened?

It was a little funny how we talked after about 9 years now just because of this mess that happened. I'm still a little shocked about what happened to the city myself. I was in the basement putting away the old books that was passed down to me by my grandfather when all of a sudden there was an earthquake or so I thought at that moment.

When I went out from the basement, everything was destroyed. I went to the street but I could barely see anything with all the dust in the air. Then I heard someone running towards me. It was her, with her slightly drenched face. But the words that she said was what made me come to reality again.

"Are you okay?" she said.

"Um, yeah. I guess."

"Good! So um, where's your parents and stuff?" she said looking kind of depressed.

"They're out of town. Thank god they are. So what about yours?" I asked.

"The...they're. They're gone." she said looking down at her shoes.

"What? Gone as in..?"

"Gone as in dead Dorian." she said as tears comes out of her eyes.

I felt bad for asking her that question. I thought they are gone as in out of town like my parents but I guess I was wrong.

"Hey, I'm sorry for asking you that question. Is there anything I could do?"

"I don't think so. I think trying to call 911 isn't really the great solution at this time, is it?" she asked.

"No, I guess no. With what I could see, most of the city seems destroyed."

"Yeah, we better find somewhere to stay before night falls."

"We could stay in my basement, I mean if you want to. It's the closest place we could go for now."

"Yeah I guess." she said.

Rose's POV-

We walked to his basement after the weird conversation. His basement looks like it's in a good state, it's really dusty but better than outside. His basement isn't really a basement under a house, it's at his backyard. From what I remembered he worked with his dad during summer to build it as a storage room underground, and from what I can see it looks great for something a kid and his dad build.

I felt like I was not in shock anymore about what happened to my family. It's weird without them, but it also feels normal now. I don't know why but it does.

"Here drink some water." he said as he handed me the bottle of water.

"Thanks, what about you?"

"I'm fine, you go ahead I get my own if I need one." he said with a smile.

I took a sip of water and laid against the wall. He sat right next to me with a confused an curious face.

"Hey, Rose. Is it okay if I ask you something?" he asked sounding slightly concerned.

"Yeah, sure. Go ahead."

"Do you still hate me?"

"Well no, I don't hate you, but I am still a little mad at you for accusing me of such a crime like poisoning your parrot." I said with one eyebrow raised.

"Wait, I did?" he asked confused.

"Yeah! Don't tell me you forgot about it."

"I did. To be honest, I don't remember what happened other than that there was some sort of fight."

"Ugh, you haven't changed have you?" I sighed.

"Well you hav--" he said but was interrupted by the sound of a gunshot outside.
