The New Kid

Today was finally the day! The day that marked my final spring break. It was finally here, the spring break that my best friend, Ariel, and I had planned since the beginning of the school year, way back in August. Sounds like I'm excited, right?

Well, I'm not. If you would have asked either of us a week ago if we were excited we could have went on for hours about the plans that we had. However, those plans have all fell through.

So now, Ariel and I are both stuck at home and within the next few days we will be able to scroll through our social media accounts and see pictures of our classmates actually enjoying their last spring break as high school students.

Although we had no plans to go anywhere or do anything, Ariel and I were laying in my bed, both tapping on our phones while the TV played in the background.

"The new kid just requested to follow me." Ariel stated breaking the silence between the two of us. "Do you think I should accept it?"

"Why wouldn't you? You let everyone follow you." I chuckled.

"Yeah, but I heard he isn't really the best person..." she trailed off, still taping on her phone screen. "What if he's a creep? Or what if he finds me and hurts me? He might be kind of weird.."

Here is one of the most important things you need to know about Ariel, she's so insanely over dramatic and paranoid! It's really a never ending cycle, but after a while you get used to it.

My phone buzzed in my hand drawing my attention away from Ariel and back to the device. "He followed me too."

"See!" she shouted "He's already being weird! He followed both of us within two minutes! You can't tell me that isn't creepy! You think that's creepy, right?"

"No, Ariel, I think that it's a new kid trying to make friends." I laughed at her as I clicked the follow back button.

"He already has friends, and not good ones. I've seen him hanging out with Luke, and those other kids."

Luke and "those other kids" are known around town as the schools "bad boys". I think it's a load of shit. They're just some teenagers that want to look cool, so they pretend to do bad things. Just like at any other school.

"Well, maybe he isn't a good person, who knows. It's not like we'll be hanging out with him so why should we care?"

"You're right." she agreed "I'm still not letting him follow me though. That's weird."
