''Old friends die on you, and they're irreplaceable. You become independent.'' Lionel Blue

''Attention all students,'' The principal of Beacon Hills High spoke over the intercom. ''Mr. O'Quinn's classes are cancelled for today. If anyone knows his whereabouts, please let the office know immediately.''

Lea smirked to herself as she proceeded down the stairs. Mr. O'Quinn's class was the last class she had to attend for the final two periods of the school day.

She felt going home early would be the best for her. All day, she's been getting horrific stares and overly dramatic grimaces that pierced at her appearance whenever she passed by.

If that wasn't enough, she's had this unsettling feeling in the pit of her stomach.

She questioned it with Amber during transition to third period, but the only helpful assurance the blonde could assist was a shrug if her shoulders and briefly saying, ''It's just cold fins. Now you see why mom and dad had you helping with the library.''

But, she felt it went deeper than that. Lea didn't give a rats ass if people liked her or not. They didn't know half of what she went through, therefore, none had the right to criticize her.

''You said Scott told you not to do anything,'' Lea heard Mason prompt to his best man beside him as she made a quick turn from the stairwell.

''I know,'' Liam's responds, his voice rough and deeo that sent the hairs on the back of her neck standing.

She furrows her brows at the two, wondering why were they standing in the middle of the hallway when there's people trying to get through?

Lea slants the left corner of her lips to the side and takes slow and careful steps towards Liam's available side.

Furrowing her brows, she mumbles, ''She looks familiar.''

Her brunette locks swift off of her shoulder when turning to Liam and Mason with questioning features. ''Do you guys know her?''

There was a brunette who leaned her physique against the set of lockers while Theo stood aside her. Her features were covered by her dark colored locks, but Lea seems to recognize the girl of some sort.

As soon as Lea spoke lightly of the girl, she turned to look up the hall where the three stood.

In that instant, Lea's heart dropped. She was familiar. Liam, Mason, hell, even Lea knew her. They knew who she was fully well.

Because there stood Hayden Romero.

''No way,'' Lea breathes out, her features faltered in exchanged for wide eyes. She must be seeing things. This is her best friend that was on her death bed months ago. How is any of that possible?

Her heart sunk even more, only in a form of betrayal as Theo leaned in closed to the point where his lips ghosted over her ear.
