I think it's funny how humans will try to survive as long as possible, even if its just 1 more day. Take a zombie apocalypse for example. The remaining humans would try to survive by all means possible. Non violent people would have to learn to fight, unfit people would have to get fit, and so on. They would all try to survive as long as possible, even when death is imminent. Some might take the quick easy way out, but most will try to survive. And as another example: zombie-less apocalypse, where natural disasters happen on a weekly basis and are on a whole new scale. Buildings collapsing left right and centre, bridges broken past repair, roads twisted and cracked, underground structures collapsing leaving gaping holes in the ground. If the majority of the human population was killed by the natural disasters, people would still try to rebuild and expand what was left of humans. If we combine these two examples we pretty much have a living hell: infrastructure collapsing, zombie virus going around, only a tiny sliver of human population left alive. For a group of teenagers this is reality. This is no joke, no exhibit in a museum, no movie, this is real.
