CHAPTER THREE

F A M I L Y R E U N I O NLydia Martin delicately rests her short body on a soft couch in Allison Argent's lounge room, watching Alec and Clary take a seat on the opposite one with a stern look.
"We have decided to tell you both something with great importance." Clary pushes her long curly hair behind her ears and peers up at Alec for what looks like confirmation.
After Alec nods his head, Clary looks back at the two best friends sitting across from them and sighs. "Allison, this is going to be very hard for you to understand. But Alec is your brother."
"What are you talking about?" Allison throws her head back in laughter, but closes her mouth after noticing Alec and Clary's serious facial expressions. "We are not joking, Allison. This is a serious situation."
Allison turns to Lydia for her help. She simply shrugs her freckled shoulders and shares the same confused look. "This is a joke right?" Lydia asks through her pink lips.
"Why would we lie about something so serious?" Alec stands up from the couch and takes small steps over to Allison, placing a hand over her arm and looking deep into her light brown eyes that seemed to hold so much connection.
Allison shakes her head and releases contact with Alec, standing up to face him. "No, if you were my brother my parents would have told me about you." With that she walks out of the room calmly, as if pretending nothing happened.
Lydia takes this alone time with them to her advantage. "What are you talking about, she is a werewolf hunter by blood, isn't she?" She asks the two shadow hunters standing in front of her.
"Allison's father has had an affair with my mother, Maryse. She is not a shadow hunter, she has her father's genetics." Alec explains, putting a hand on Lydia's knee in comfort. Lydia nods in an understanding manner.
"Allison's mother did not want anyone finding out about her husbands disloyalty to the Argent name, so she stole Allison and raised her as her own." Clary finishes while Lydia's eyes widen in surprise.
Allison storms around from the kitchen and enters the lounge room in complete and utter anger. "My mother would never do that, nor would my father!" She claims, leaving again.
"I can't believe this! I have known Allison's parents for ages, they wouldn't keep anything like this from her." Lydia shakes her head and looks at Clary as she takes a seat back onto the couch.
"Matter of fact, it would make more sense if you and I were sisters." Lydia laughs a little, she is always trying to find light in unhealthy situations, which is why Allison chose her as a best friend.
"Well you both do look the same, with the red hair-"
"Strawberry blonde!" Lydia and Clary scowl at Alec as they speak in sync, they both start laughing as Alec rolls his eyes, murmuring "Great, another Clary."

"So you are saying that he is Allison's brother?" Malia softly bites down on her bottom lip before her eyes shine bright blue. She leans forward and glances at Alec meeting Scott and Stiles from across the school hallway.
Lydia follows Malia's gaze towards Alec and her cheeks flush bright red after he tugs his lips up into a smile in her direction, she turns back towards Malia, Kira and Allison to hide her face.
Alec and Clary decided they needed to make some werewolf allies before everyone finds out their former friend Jace is the one behind all the werewolf attacks. So they started school, asking Lydia to meet the one and only Scott McCall and his best friend Stiles Stilinski.
"It's okay Allison, I'm sure your parents were going to tell you eventually." Kira puts her soft palm on Allison's shoulder and pulls her into a hug.
Allison flinches, but soon wraps her arms around Kira and enjoys the comforting gesture she didn't know she desperately needed. Malia places a hand on Allison's shoulder as she believes she is awkward at hugs.
"Lydia, what do you think about him?" Kira questions with her charcoal hair flowing behind her back as they rush past people walking in the corridor to get to her locker.
Lydia coughs lightly, turning her head to see if Alec was near. Seeing that he wasn't she let out a small giggle and whispers, "He's hot."
-
"So Allison." Mr. Argent gently places his silver knife and fork down onto the table besides his plate and holds his wife's trembling hand. Allison does the same with her cutlery, trying not to scream at her parents for lying to her her whole life.
But she still has some hope left inside herself to believe that Alec is not her brother, he and Clary could be some sort of evil werewolves for all she knew.
"Yes?" She pretends to be as dumbfounded as she possibly could seem to be, crossing her legs under the wooden dining table.
"We have some very important news to tell you."
