"This can't be real. This can't be real. This can't be real." The phrase keeps entering my mind but no matter how many times I say it, it doesn't change my situation. I'm running in the woods now, praying that the thick foliage will act as a cover. My luck to be wearing a dress. This night just couldn't get any better. The sudden regret of the fact I just jixed myself hit when I lost my footing sending my plummeting down the steep hill.
I can hear them now, barking orders, shouting my name, and worst of all, their fast footsteps heading directly tword me. I force myself back up into a steady sprint fleeing from my predators. Faster. Faster. I need to go faster. The very idea of what will happen if they catch me makes my wishes come true and I shoot across a small field like deer being hunted. But thats all I am, an unarmed organism trying to escape the inevitable death that follows me.
I need a place to hide, but where? My eyes quickly scan the area in hopes of finding somewhere, just for tonight. I see a stream not to far off to my left. The water sinks down deep into the ground. Before I can even collect my thoughts I am racing twords ,possibly, my only hope. I am fortunate enough to find holes along the bank big enough to conceal my body. I force myself into the small hole thanking the lord for my 5'3" self.
I'm just in time as I hear footsteps of someone running to the area above me. The terror of this person possibly seeing me before I concealed myself into the dirt paralyzes me. He is so close, close enough for me to smell the strong, over bearing cologne on his body.
The foot steps slow and the loose dirt that makes up the ceiling of my hiding spot starts to crumble, covering my pale and torn dress and alerting me that my plausible death is directly above me. All of my worries are subsided at I hear his words, "This area is clear, direct your search to the right!".
I am put to total ease when I hear the words of agreement following his orders along with the fast, leather clad feet going in the opposite direction.
I wait a few minutes in silence and allow my adrenaline to wear off, leaving me with a a throbbing pain in my lower calf and abdomen. My eyes catch the red sticky liquid as I begin to examine the injuries responsible for this pain. I crawl out of my dirty hiding spot and quickly begin to clean off my injuries in chilly water revealing a nasty slit in my on my abdomen and an even worse gash on my calf. "Luckily neither of them are too deep." I quietly whisper to myself.
I rip off a a peice of my dress, rinse it a best as I can in the clear river, and tighly place it around my injury as I take in my surroundings. I breath in the strong sent of the pine trees surrounding me. I realize how late it is when my eyes catch the gorgeous hues of oranges and reds that spread across the sky.
Exauhsted, I crawl back into my hiding spot and and try to get comfortable enough to sleep in the cramped space. I look at the soft river bank, longing to stretch out next to a fire. I could easily sleep like that. "They would find you," I keep reminding myself, "They would find you and then kill you."
After awhile I find myself finally drifting off to sleep. Shivering in the cold night time air, I manage to finally fall asleep.A/N~~~ Hey guys! Sorry this is short, I plan on making the rest of the chapters longer. This is my first story so I apologize if it isn't the best.
