I woke up panicked, someone was screaming. My door flew open and it was then that I realized it was me screaming. I shut myself up but it was too late. Everyone in the house was in my room looking at me. The twins were crying, Sammy was hiding behind Mrs. Nancy, Mr. Nancy had a shotgun in hand, and Sophia was sitting at the foot of my bed. Mason handed me a glass of water that reminded me of the night before I was abandoned, so I reject his offer.
The screaming and anxiety doesn't seem uncommon to Sophia and Mason. After I am calm we agree that since we are all already up we might as well start our "daily routine list", also very cheesy. I'm starting to wonder what isn't cheesy about this family.
Everyone has a specific list designed for their needs. For example Sammy has to:
· Get dressed
· Brush his curly black hair
· Eat breakfast
· Put the dishes in the dishwasher
· Put on his coat and shoes
· Be ready when the bus comes to pick them up.
Mine however, is a little more complicated.
· Take shower
· Wash face
· Get dressed
· Do hair
· Do makeup
· Make my bed
· Take the garbage out
· Put pillow cases in the wash
· Take medication
· Eat breakfast
· Get school books around
· Catch the bus to go to a different school than the rest of the Nancy's
Today is my first full day in the Nancy's house and how do we start it off. . . in prayer. . . in our pajamas. I believe in god but I'm not that religious.
After our prayer circle is done I get a shower. I take really long showers which I know irritates the other household members by the pounding on the door. I can't help but chuckle a little as I take five more minutes. I wrap my towel around my shivering body, and tangle my hair in a separate towel.
As soon as I open the door I see the funniest sight I have seen since I got here. There is Mason in a light blue dress shirt, yellow tie, and dark blue shorts. I burst out laughing and he laughs too.
"I'm sorry" I say in apology for my rudeness.
"When everyone in the school is wearing it you don't feel as ridiculous. " He explained
I try to hold it in for as long as I can but I still chuckle as I walk by.
I finish my morning routine and watch as the near identical Nancy's get on the bus for school.
