Jes's POV:
I woke up the next day around ten o'clock and got ready for work. After I fed my cat and locked up the house I took off to the book store. "Jes, I'm so glad you were able to come in. Everyone has been calling off left and right." Rose said with a panicked expression on her face. "So, that means I'll probably be closing." I replied. "Yes, I'm so sorry Jes. I don't mean to make you work everyone's shift." She said. She has always been so apologetic, even in cases where she can't prevent things from happening. "Rose, rose, calm down. It's okay." I said with a slight laugh. "Good, I'll buy you lunch." She said happily. "You don't have to do that." I said. "I want to, it's the least I can do." She said kindly. There were a few customers, but it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Especially since a bunch of cool new books were coming out in a month or two. I figured a lot of people would be coming in to pre order them. "Let's close up for lunch." Rose said. She shut the lights off in her office and we headed down the street to our favorite cafe. "So, how have you been? It's been a while since we've had the chance to talk to each other." She said after we ordered our food and drinks. "Everything has been going pretty well." I replied. "Have you made any good friends? The word around two is that you have a silver fox visiting you." She said with a cheeky grin on her face. "He's just a friend." I replied with an eye roll. "What's his name?" She asked curiously. "I can't tell you...especially not here." I said. "Why? It's not like he's famous.....holy shit! He's famous isn't he?!?!" She said, whisper yelling. "Maybe." I replied. I knew she'd be probing me until no end, so I figured I'd tell her once we got back to the store. My phone started buzzing, and I saw it was Alan texting me. I never thought of him as the texting type.
Alan: Hey, I miss you.
Me: I miss you too, but I won't be home until five o'clock.
Alan: Can I take you out to dinner then? There's something I have to tell you.
Me: Yeah, sure.
Alan: Okay, see you latter sweetheart.
Me: See ya. :3
I started feeling nervous for some odd reason. 'What did he need to tell me, and why does he want to tell me over dinner? Is it something bad? Does he not wanna be friends anymore?' I wondered. I pushed all my negative thoughts to the back of my mind and tried to enjoy my meal. I just needed to calm down and not freak out like I usually do. "Was that him?" Rose asked curiously. "Yeah." I replied. I could she was excited to know who it was; I don't really blame her though.
~ Time Jump ~
I finished working and headed out to my car. "You have fun tonight." Rose said with a wink. I rolled my eyes at her, which made the both of us laugh. I got into my car and decided to turn on some music. I needed something to calm my nerves. When I got inside my house I took a quick bath and changed my clothes. I desperately hoped Alan wasn't going to take me to someplace fancy. I headed downstairs and fed my cat when someone knocked on the door. "Hey, you look beautiful." Alan said as I opened the door. I was wearing some black jeans and and a plane black t-shirt. I didn't get what was beautiful about my appearance, but I rolled with it. Him on the other hand looked absolutely gorgeous. He was wearing a black buttoned t-shirt, blue jeans, a black overcoat, and some shiny shoes. "Thanks, you look good yourself." I replied, which made him laugh. "Are you ready to go?" He asked curiously. "Yeah." I replied. I locked up the house and got into his car, wondering where he was taking me. I knew it was useless to ask him, so I kept quiet. He pulled up to the town restaurant, which surprised me. It also terrified me; why would he bring me to the place we met? 'Calm down and stop jumping to conclusions.' I said to myself. We sat at the very same table as well. We ordered and was left in silence. "I bet you're wondering why I brought you here." He said with a softness to his voice. "Well...a little." I said with a nervous laugh. "Jes, I have to leave. I have to go back to England." He said with slight sadness in his eyes. "Oh." I replied. I knew he would have to go back eventually, but it felt like he hasn't been here long. That's not true though, he has been here for two months. "I'm sorry sweetheart. I know you probably don't want me to leave. The truth is, I don't want to either but work is calling me back." He said as he lightly brushed his thumb against my cheek. his soft touch sent my heart hammering in my chest. 'Stop! He's older than you, and he'd never ever feel the same way!' I screamed at myself. I was pretty sure I looked like a tomato, which only embarrassed me more. "Alan, it's okay. I'll miss you, but you have to work. I understand." I replied. "Good, I'm glad. I'll miss you too sweetheart." He said. The waitress sat our food down and flirted with Alan a little. I could tell it made Alan feel uncomfortable, which amused me slightly. "Sorry." Alan whispered to me after she left us alone. "Sorry for what?" I asked curiously. "For her flirting with me." He replied. "You don't have to apologize, besides....I thought it was amusing." I said with a smile. "Really?" He asked. "Well, yeah. She can't help it if you're attractive." I said. "You think I'm attractive?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "More like.....irresistibly cute and adorable." I said, which made him chuckle. We ate our food and I told him about how work was going. When we were finished we went for a moonlit walk through the park, which was very lovely. "I love taking walks at night. The world seems so much more beautiful." Alan said as we sat down on a bench. "So do I." I replied. We sat in comfortable silence for a long while before either of us spoke. "Jes, there's something I want to give you." Alan said as he reached into his jacket pocket. "Alan, you didn't have to get me anything." I said feeling slightly guilty. Every time he pays for something makes me feel like I'm taking advantage of him; that's the last thing I want to do. "I wanted to, here." He said as he handed me a black box. I opened it and saw a bracelet laying inside. It had round, jade colored beads on it. There were metal lettered beads on it as well that spelled out Alan on them. "Alan, this is beautiful." I said as I put it on with my other bracelets. "I'm glad you do. I got one made for myself, but...it has your name on it. I decided to get them made as a reminder that we'll always be there for each other....no matter how far apart we are." He said sweetly. "Alan, you're wonderful!" I said as I wrapped my arms around him. "You're wonderful too sweetheart." He replied as he hugged me back. We sat on the bench and watched the stars for a while before we headed back to my place. "When are you going back?" I asked curiously. "Tomorrow." He replied. "You better get some rest then." I said. "I will, but right now I wanna spend time with you." He said softly. He kissed my forehead lovingly, and I couldn't help but melt inside. I knew I would deeply miss him once he was gone, but at least I got to keep him for tonight.
