Jes's POV:

"Come on, stop being a moping baby. You gotta get out more now that Alan is gone. You can't just love from phone call to phone call." Lauren said. It's been three weeks without Alan, and I miss him so much! He calls me every day, but it's nothing like seeing him face to face. "Listen, I don't like going to clubs and bars. It's dangerous, and I'm perfectly fine waiting on Alan's calls. He's special, unlike the guys you hang around." I said. "Hey, so what if I go out and have sex with whatever man I want. At least I'm getting more action than you." She said. What she doesn't know is that I'm still a virgin. I lied to her about two years ago just so she'd get off my back about it. Frankly, I enjoy being a virgin thank you very much! "Lauren, give her a break. Alan is a handsome man, and sweet according to Jes. Leave her alone." Stacy said kindly. "Thank you." I said crossing my arms. "I don't care if he's a saint. You're coming with us tonight." Lauren said as she grabbed me by the arm and dragged me out to her car. Stacy fed and watered my cat and locked up for me. Stacy is by far more decent than Lauren, but she could have given more effort in trying to get me out of this. I got shoved into the back seat and buckled in against my will. I sat in the back with my arms crossed and an angry expression on my face. "You know, I could get you for kidnapping me." I said after a while of silence. Neither one of them said anything, which pissed me off even more. Lauren pulled up to a club that was blaring some kind of music. People were standing in line waiting....actually waiting to go into this hell hole. "Come on." Lauren said as she got me out of the car. We ended up being able to cut to the front of the line because Lauren and Stacy apparently knew the guy. The building was full of gyrating people that were drunk or high....maybe even both. I felt out of place and I felt so unsafe. I can't believe I'm actually friends with these two, but they're all that I've got other than Alan. "Hey cutie, would you like to dance with me?" Some dude asked Lauren. He was wearing a pink polo shirt and white jeans. "Sure." She replied. They went off into the sea of people while Stacy and I walked up to the bar. "What can I get you two pretty lady's?" The bartender asked kindly. "I'd like a vodka please." Stacy said with a kind smile. "Okay, and for you?" He said as he looked towards me. "Do you have any non alcoholic drinks?" I asked curiously. I've never drank alcohol, and I never will. My uncle use to me an alcoholic, and I guess I'm just afraid to go down that road. "We sure do. We have soda and water." He replied. "Do you have Dr. Pepper?" I asked curiously. "Yep." He said. "I'll have one of those." I replied. He smiled and got Stacy her vodka first, and then he gave me my Dr. Pepper. "I'm sorry about Lauren dragging you here. I would have prevented her from doing it, but it's just easier if you go along with her." She said. "I know." I said. We sat there drinking our drinks when some guy sat down beside Stacy. He ended up taking her onto the dance floor. If you could call it a dance floor; it just looked like a tangle of bodies to me. "Hey, do you mind if I sit here?" I heard a guy's voice say. I looked over to see a man with dark curly hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a white buttoned t-shirt and blue jeans. "Go ahead." I said. He took the seat next to me and ordered a drink. "What are you having?" He asked curiously. "Dr. Pepper." I replied. "Not an alcohol drinker?" He asked. "No." I said. "I respect that. Most people think you have to drink alcohol to have a good time, but that's not the case." He said. "So, what's your name?" I asked. "Jeremy, Jeremy Alan." He said. My mind flew to Alan, and I started to feel a little depressed. "Nice to meet you, my name's Jes, Jes Chambers." I said. "It's nice to meet you too Jes." He said as we shook hands. We sat in silence for a while before he spoke up. "Would you like to go outside? It's getting kinda stuffy in here." He said. "Yeah, sure." I replied. He and I made our way through the crowd of people and when got outside I was relived. I couldn't actually breath; not that the air was at all clean. I could smell cigarette smoke, urine, vomit, and some other things. "Who forced you to come here? I can tell you're not thrilled to be here." Jeremy said with a slight laugh. "My friends. They come here almost every night, and they decided to bring me alone. They said it would be good for me." I said. "Are you getting over a breakup?" He asked. "No, I've been missing one of my friends. He went back to England a few weeks ago, and I just....really miss him. He calls me every day though, which is nice of him" I said. "Well that's sweet of him." He said with a smile. "I know." I said smiling. "You like him....don't you?" He asked with a knowing grin on his face. "I do, but I don't think he'd ever feel the same way about me." I said. "I'm sure he would, you're a cute girl; You seem nice too. Any guy would be crazy not to like you." He said kindly. "Well, thanks." I said with a slight laugh. After a while Stacy came out holding Lauren's car keys. "You ready to go?" She asked me curiously. "Yeah, where's Lauren?" I said. "She's going home with some guy." She said. "Oh, well this is Jeremy. Jeremy, this is Stacy." I said. "Hello." She said. "It's nice to meet you." Jeremy said. Stacy and Jeremy talked for a little while before we decided to leave. Jeremy ended up giving Stacy and I his number as well. I didn't mind, he seemed like a nice guy and I wouldn't mind getting to know him. He seemed to be good friend material. Stacy pulled into my driveway and apologized for Lauren's behaviour....again. When I walked through my front door I was greeted my my cat. I went upstairs and took a nice hot bath before I changed into my pajamas. Suddenly my phone started ringing, and it was Alan! "Hey! How are you?" I said happily. "Hey sweetheart. Sorry for calling you so late, but I couldn't sleep and I miss you." He said sweetly. "Aww. It's okay Alan, I've missed you too." I replied. We talked for a while before we said our goodbyes for the night. I wished he'd come back soon, but I knew that wasn't likely. I covered up and shut the lights off wondering what Alan's plans were for tomorrow. Maybe Jeremy would take my mind off of Alan. I certainly knew Lauren wasn't going to be able to; she only made me miss him more.
