I slowly sat up waking up from my nap and swallowed my surroundings. It was dusk, Kora and Ash were getting ready to go to sleep. I sat up and walked closer to the fire rolling my shoulders back unfurling my wings...WINGS?!

"uh Luke?" Ash warned, "You have wings..."

"And Abs" Kora added. I slowly turned in a circle trying to get a glimpse my wings, (I ignored the comment about my abs, smiling internally) I couldn't see them but I could feel them attached to my back. I reached my hands back behind me and felt my wings, they were smooth, feathery and mine... How did I grow these overnight?

"Am I turning into a bird?" I asked aloud, looking for feathers anywhere else. "Are there any other feathers?" I asked the girls. "Not that I can see" Kora replied somewhat casually trying to hide her blush. "What do I do?" I shake my head trying to think. "Maybe its the jungle...?" I suggested thinking out loud. "I'm so far the only one that's been in the jungle and the only one with wings so...could be?"
"Maybe but I don't know... It doesn't add up to me" Ash said thoughtfully.

"This whole death thing, and this island....What does this mean? I don't get it at all" Kora sighed in frustration. I shook my head, connecting with how she felt one hundred percent.

"We need a way off the island-" Ash began,

"No, not possible" I cut her off abruptly, "there has to be another way. This must be some sort of test...Right? I mean, like, we died, or supposedly died. I was sent to some sort of special facility, and if my assumptions are correct you guys were as well. So they didn't just dump us on some island." My mind was racing so fast, it felt as if my eyes were trying to move as fast to keep up. I shook my head to calm myself as Ash responded, "Wait, remember what was going on before we -or at least I- 'died,' all the wars, pollution, the world was going to shit. Maybe us being here is to stay safe and...." she hesitated. Reproduce, I finished her sentence in my head but asked, "and?"

"Reproduce..." she blushed and didn't meet my gaze."I think were here to save the world" Ash spoke up "I think I need to go back in there" I concluded, facing the direction of the eerie jungle. Which looked even creepier at night.

"Not alone, as you said." Kora stated, staring me down. I didn't even argue, "You're right, we'll go check it out tomorrow, but I feel, since it in a way is pushing us away, we need to go in." I met her gaze and nodded to myself.
