Once madam Pomfree gave me my stuff she smiled at me. Sure it was not the best but it was very rare for me to see. "Be good Ashton. I don't want to see you coming back here again." She said. I nodded and smiled at her as I waved goodbye as lily and John took me to their car. John took my suitcase and put it in the trunk. "Only one?" John asked shocked. "Yeah, see they only let me take one from my last home." I told him softly. "Right okay." He said as he got in the passenger seat of the car. "So son do you have a drivers license?" John asked. "I would be getting it tomorrow." I said. "Oh so you have your permit?" Lily asked. "Yes I do." I said softly. "Okay well before we go home lets go to the mall to get you some furniture and more clothes." She said as she stopped at a red light. I simply said okay as we drove off to the mall.
Shopping wasn't all that interesting. There were lots of people my age looking at me wondering what I was wearing probably. I was wearing a plain grey t-shirt with a hoodie sleeves rolled up some jeans and Mario kart skater vans. I'm not fashionable, I'll give you that. Lily kept asking me questions about whether I like school or not while John kept trying to change my hat style from beanie to snap backs.
Once the car pulled into the garage lily opened the door for me. I walked in and gazed at the house from the inside. I looked over across the room where cartoons were playing on a 55 inch flat screen tv. "James Avery we're home!! Come say hello to your new brother!" Lily said mainly shouting upstairs for Avery because James jumped over the couch and slid across the tile floor with his socks. As Avery slowly walked down stairs her eyes glued to her phone. "Hi I'm James in 8 years old. I really like cartoons. Do you like video games?" He asked me very excitedly. He reminded me of a puppy that wants nothing more then to be your friend. "Yes I do like video games James and my names Ashton." I said smiling at him. "Avery get off your phone please. " lily said looking at her. "Fine." She said turning off her phone and putting it in her back pocket. "Hi I'm Avery." She said sticking out her hand. I shook it and responded. "Hi I'm Ashton." I said. "I heard." She said. "Oh and mom Lexi wants to come over. Can she?" Avery asked turning her attention to lily. "Um yes if you show Ashton to his room." Lily said smiling. "Kk." Avery said smiling. "Come on Ash follow me." She said.
Ash? What the hell kind of name was Ash?
"Um my names Ashton." I said following her up the stairs. "I'm known for giving nicknames." She said. "Well can you think of a different one for me? I don't want my nickname to remind me of Ash from Pokemon." I said. She laughed a little. "Okay I will." She said turning into the hallway. "So this, is my room." She said opening the first door on the left. I peered into her room as she gently laughed. "You can go in you dork." She said grabbing my wrist and pulling me into her room. I looked around to see band posters everywhere and anime posters as well. By her bed is a little time line made of rope with pictures of her and her friends or family. Soon we left her room. "Okay so next is James' room. It's a mess so I'm not going to show you." She said pointing to the second door on the right. "The door all the way at the end is mom and dads room. So don't go in there unless you need them." She said. "And these two rooms are open." She said pointing to the first door on the right and the second on the left. "Which do you want? Personally I would take the one on the right because it's bigger. It's like the size of my room but it has a bigger bathroom built into it." She said. "Yeah I'll take that one." I said pointing to the door on the right. She smiled and said okay and quickly took out her phone and texted someone then put it away. "Do you have a phone?" She asked. I slowly shook my head. "No I don't." I said. "A laptop or computer of some sort? Maybe a tablet?" She asked. "Nope none. The orphanage didn't allow it so much as buy us anything." I told her. "Oh okay. Well let's get you settled in shall we?" She asked. I nodded as we headed downstairs to get my stuff.Around a half an hour later we finished un packing and getting all the furniture in the place I wanted it too. Then the doorbell rang. "Oh I'll get that." She said as I kept putting clothes away. "Okay." I said as she disappeared downstairs. 3 minutes later she came back up with a girl which I was assuming was Lexi. "Lexi this is Ashton. Ashton this is Lexi." Avery said. "Hi." Lexi said as I waved and said the same back. Lexi leaned back to Avery and whispered something not so secretly. "He's pretty cute don't you think?" Lexi asked. "Ew Lex that's my new brother your talking about!" Avery said. "Sorry bout her." She said. "No no it's fine." I said as Avery helped me put the rest of my clothes away. Soon we finished and lily called my name wanting me to come down stairs. "Yes?" I asked. "Okay so I have a lot to tell you." She said as I sat down. "Okay so we got you into the same school as Avery which is Greenwood High. Also if your ready we can take you to get your license tomorrow. And I noticed you have no electronics whatsoever so I bought you a phone, laptop, and desktop computer that's really good for gaming. I also bought you a tv for your room." She said smiling. "Wow that's all great and yes I'm ready for tomorrow." I said happily.
After John helped me install everything in my room it was time for dinner and apparently Lexi was sleeping over. After I ate dinner everyone went up to their rooms except for lily. She was cleaning the dishes. I walked into the kitchen and helped lily do the dishes. "Oh sweetie you don't need to help me." She insisted. "Oh no it's fine I helped out around the orphanage when I was there." I said smiling. Once we finished doing the dishes and started to head up to my room. "Goodnight Ashton." She said. I stopped in my tracks and turned around. "Goodnight mom." I said smiling causing her to smile.
Once I got upstairs I heard the screaming of a teenage girl. I opened Avery's door with a confused look on my face. "Everything okay in here?" I asked. Avery laughed and pulled me into her room and closed the door behind her. "Yeah Lexi was just fan girling over something on tumblr." She said causally. I gave her a confused look. She soon realized that I don't have any social media yet. "Oh right. Here give me your phone." She said holding out her hand. I pulled it out of my back pocket and gave it to her. "Password?" She said having her eyes on my phone. "Cadence Marks." I said as the smile on my face soon faded. "Who's that?" Avery asked. "My best friend from the orphanage." I said. She gave me a sad face and hugged me. I was never the affectionate type but I still hugged her back. "I'm sorry." She said. "It's fine." I said remembering how I lost her. "So let's give you an Instagram." She said downloading the app. After a photo shoot that she had with me she posted it on my account and hers. On my account I tagged her and on hers she tagged me. The caption thing said "Haii guys sorry I haven't posted lately. This is my new brother!😘 first day he's here and he's already awesome!" Once she posted it on hers my phone started buzzing like crazy. So many people started following me. "Who are all these people following me?" I asked her. "They are a bunch of students that go to our school." She told me. "Oh okay." I said.
The rest of the time was uneventful until Avery saw I was still on Instagram and figuring it out. "You still on Instagram?" She asked me. I turned around to see Avery peaking over my shoulder. "Yeah I am." I said. "Ohhh he's cute." Avery said clicking on a dudes account. She read a little of his bio. "Damn he's gay." She said disappointed. "What? How can you tell?" I asked her. She sighed and laughed. "Look, he uses a lot of emojis and he included his favorite musical. He's like the gay one that's every girls best friend." Avery said. "Although you and him would look cute together....hmmm Lexi help me come up with a ship name." Avery said. I looked at the boys Instagram his name is Adam. His favorite musical is Hamilton even though it's still on Broadway. He's in the same grade I am. He is cute like Avery had said. "Whoa Ashton why are you looking through his photos? Dangerous territory if you like one of those your life is over! So wait are you gay?" Avery asked. "I'm just confused." "Well let me help!" Avery said. I accepted her help. "Do you think he's cute?" She asked showing a picture of Adam. "Yes." I said. "What about her?" She asked showing a picture of Selena Gomez. "She looks good but I wouldn't date her." I said honestly. "Well you my brother are gay." Avery said. I smiled and said my good nights and went to my room and once I laid down I fell asleep.
