I remember when I was little, I was scared of the cars that would drive past at 2:30 in the morning. To me there was no reason to be going anywhere at that time of night. So the only reason to be leaving was if you were a criminal on the run. All these years later and it turns out I was right. The only reason to be going somewhere at this time of night is if you are on the run.

All had gone quiet, and except for me everyone was asleep. The freeway was mostly empty, and it was so dark you could barely see your surroundings. Crickets chirped in the distance, weeds were swaying side to side in the light breeze that fluttered past; it was almost relaxing-and it probably would be- if it wasn't for our mission.

We were at risk of being discovered, if this wasn't pulled off correctly this could be the end. There was a leak in our system-a traitor. It could be anyone, and we didn't know this until too late. So when it comes down to it, there is only one question to ask. Which is worth more loyalty or you're neck?

I think the answer is fairly obvious. Don't get me wrong I'm all for loyalty, but there is a time and a place for everything. And right now it was time to get out.

I set a weight on the gas, and put Thalia's hand on the wheel. Then I swung open my door. I put my foot on the edge of the car, using it for propulsion, and tucked and rolled onto the gravel below.
