One of my Best Friends
Dear Madison,
To begin this letter I'm going to tell you a little story. Ready? Once upon a time there was a little sixth grader. Lets call her Lexi. Lexi had two best friends from elementary school, and she was delighted to find out they were going to her middle scholar as well! Sadly, she never saw them, as they had completely different schedules. Lexi wasn't discouraged though, she made friends fast enough when she switched to her old elementary school, why should middle school be any different? Two weeks later and Lexi didn't have one. Single. Friend. All she had were books. She would go to the library every day to check out a new book. She would live in her fantasy world with her make believe characters. Then she saw something. A girl, just like her, but she had a couple of friends. Instead of always chatting to her friends or making fun of the other students, zhe would read. She chose to be like Lexi.
Lexi would sit next to her at lunch and in the classes they had together, which was almost all of them. She would make polite conversations with her, show her the best parts of her. But mostly they talked about books.
Three years later, Lexi and this girl were the best of friends and hung out whenever they could inside of school. (They didn't really plan many outings together, the lazy butts ;) ) But they were sad. Or at least Lexi was. She often wondered what her friends would do if she died the next day, or if the would even miss her when she left. What it would feel like to cut. Lexi, the girl, and all their friends were in eighth grade. Lexi received exciting, yet sad news. She got into a prestigious program! Yay Lexi! But the only school to house this program was across town, so Lexi and her friends wouldn't go to the same school.
Lexi was sad. Whenever she would pass the school her friend would attend she felt like crying. Whenever they saw each other at their summer jobs, Lexi felt like hugging her and never letting her go. The girl and Lexi were the best of friends. And Lexi plans to keep it that way.
Hi Madison. Did you like the story? Incase you didn't know, I'm Lexi. And you are the girl Lexi saw reading. Remember when would lay in the grass at recess, talking about our favorite book character? Or every summer after sixth grade, volunteering at the library? On that Halloween, when I was a witch and Elise was a cat? Do you still have the video? Do remember just a few days ago when I called you in tears? This was why I was crying. The story of a girl and her friend. I'll am going to Lincoln High. You are going to East. I'll miss you. Every day.
I'll never forget you,
AliP.S. ~ This letter is true. Every word.
