Runaway~Ed Sheeran

I've known it for a long time
Daddy wakes up to a drink at night
Disappearing all night
I don't wanna know where he's been lying
I know what I wanna do
I wanna runaway
Runaway with you
Gonna grab clothes, socks, in the morning, go
How long you leaving?
Well dad just don't expect me back this evening
Oh it could take a bit of time to heal this
It's been a long day
Thumb on side of the roadway, but
I love him from the skin to my bones
But I don't wanna live in his home
There's nothing to say 'cause he knows
I'll just runaway and be on my own
I've never seen my dad cry
Cold as stone, in the kitchen light
I tell you it's about time
But I was raised to keep quiet
And this is what I'm gonna do
Gonna runaway, gonna make that move
Gonna grab clothes, and when it's morning, go
How long you leaving?
Well dad just don't expect me back this evening
Oh it could take a bit of time to heal this
It's been a long day
Thumb on side of the roadway, but
I love him from the skin to my bones
But I don't wanna live in his home
There's nothing to say and he knows
I'll just runaway and be on my own
Back pack, and a flat cap, turned to the back
Cause I packed my closet
My dad was a man without plans
But taking turns to show love
I don't wanna live this way
Gonna take my things and go
If things change in a matter of days
Could be persuaded to hold up
And mama was the same
None of us are saints
I guess that god knows that
I don't wanna runaway
And one of these days I might just show that
Put my home in a suitcase
Tie both showlaces, and hope that
Things change, but for now I leave town with a backpack on my shoulder
I love him from the skin to my bones
But I don't wanna live in his home
There's nothing to say and he knows
I'll just runaway and be on my own

Luke sloppily threw clothes and headphones and chargers in his small suitcase. He grabbed a manila envelope off of his chestnut dresser and sighed, putting it in the small pocket at the front of his suitcase. The boy looked at a wrinkled paper, mentally checking off everything listed.
"Notebook" he whispered to himself realizing he'd forgotten it. He carefully placed the small, one subject notebook in his midnight blue bookbag and paused to tie his low-top vans. He left a neon green sticky note on his bedside table lamp:

0432 596 245 :-)

Luke smirked at the note and headed out of his bedroom window. The uber he'd arranged to arrive at 12:15 was there in front of his house. He quickly walked to the car which was driven by a complete stranger with brown hair and glasses.
"I'm your driver Jesse! Where we headed?" The rather enthusiastic male introduced himself.
"The bus station", I said with slight victory in my voice.
"Where's a young man like you planning on going all by yourself this late?"
"No idea" Luke answered confidently.

He was happy. He was proud of himself for finally pulling it off. It took two years of late night working to gather the perfect amount of money to get away from the hell hole he calls home.

Since his dad wasn't home--as usual-- it was incredibly easy to actually get out of the house, he could've walked out of the front door, but Luke was one for adding dramatic effect.

Luke's dad--although he was a cold person-- really loved him and Luke felt the same, but he didn't want to live with that man any longer. His dad could barely take care of himself, let alone another person. He was constantly drunk or tired or both, especially since Luke's mum left the picture. His dad didn't have any plans for his future and Luke didn't want to pick up that trait, so he dipped out of there as soon as possible.

The car came to a stop and Jesse announced they had arrived. Luke threw his lengthy legs out of the vehicle, the rest of his body following. The driver also exited the car and got Luke's suitcase out for him.
"Thanks man", Luke said taking his luggage from Jesse and paying him for the ride.
"I wish you the best of luck young man. Don't get into any trouble!" He still carried his enthusiastic tone. Luke gave him a friendly chuckle and walked toward the bus stop.
"Are you sure you don't want me to just drive you to your destination? It's pretty dark out here and you don't know what kind of creeps are lurking at this hour", Jesse proposed before getting back onto the car.
"No thanks. This just adds to the adventurous aspect of it all" Luke said with a smile.
"Alright then" He said observing the surroundings before leaving Luke alone.

About 10 minutes later, Luke boarded a quite empty, blue bus. There was two others. One old lady with red hair and a tan boy who seemed about Luke's age. Luke sat across from the tan boy and closed his eyes.

Luke's eyes fluttered open to a slightly brighter sky and about five more people on the bus. His phone was vibrating and playing American Idiot by Green Day. He looked at the glowing screen that read Dad.
"Hel-"
"Where are you?!" He heard a frantic voice on the other end of the line.
"Dad, I'm fine" Luke said calmly.
"Are you sure you haven't been kidnapped?"
"Yes, dad, I'm pretty sure" the corner of the blonde boys mouth raised a tiny bit.
"When are you coming home?" He asked slightly calmer.
"Well dad", there was a pause "just don't expect me back this evening" Luke replied, then immediately disconnecting the call.

Luke saw the dark-haired boy get off the bus, so he followed, quickly running after him.
"Hey, I'm Luke", he said to the stranger, extremely out of breath.
"Are you following me?" He asked looking at the taller boy strangely.
"Depends on where you're going", Luke said, still breathless.
"I don't even know where I'm going", the boy said without looking at Luke. This made Luke feel good, knowing he wasn't the only one.
"Cool. And I didn't catch your name", he said.
"Calum"
"Oh, that's a nice name"
