Story telling has been around since ancient times and in fact no one is sure when the first story was told but because someone did tell that first story, story telling has become a big part of everyday life. Stories can beseen in books, films, TV shows, games, news media, religion, painting, music and even architecture. These are just a few there aremore examples of where you can find stories. The oldest stories that are told today have more than likely been passed down from generation to generation because of this there is probably various different versions of these stories. As they keep getting told they are bound to keep changing over time.

Stories weren't always written on paper because before humans learnt to write they had totell stories by having a good memory and good listening. As this could be such a difficult task story tellers were highly respectedand they could always find an audience for their stories. The earliest known records of storytelling dates back to the ancient Egyptian times. Stories have always been about many different things. They came in different varieties such as Myths, Legends, fairy tales, trickster stories, fables, ghost tales, and adventures. When writing a book there is a lot of thought that must going into it. The first thing to do is think of a plot and then you must come up with characters; main characters and potential small characters. Other things that you mustdo before writing one is you must plan what will happen in the beginning, middle and end. A good story has well thought out and developed characters. They also should start with a good strong first chapter or prologue that clearly introduces the story and main character. As well as this it must also be able to grab the reader's attention so that they want to read the rest. Another thing that a story must have is interesting twists that could be solved at the end or in some cases it is okay to end in a twist, if it is only the first book or if it is necessary to end it like that.

The authors that inspired me the most to create my own stories are L J Smith, P C Cast and Kristin Cast. L J Smith wrote The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circleand Night World. The main genres of her work are fantasy or urban fantasy because she mainly writes about vampires, witches andwerewolves. P C and Kristin Cast also have written about vampires although their vampires differ from that of Smith. The books that they have written are House Of Night, which they wrote together and their other books they wrote individually. P C cast wrote thePartholon series and Kristin Cast wrote Amber Smoke.
