Hotel Denken

Chapter 3

We stood in line to get lunch. We were getting a slice of pizza for each of us.

"What would you like?" The person at the counter asked.

"A slice of the veggie pizza and--" Jamie looked at me. "-And a slice of pepperoni." I said. They got our pizza and Jamie paid for lunch. "I have somewhere we can eat." Sloth told me. "Alright." I said. We were walking to the exit when he pulled me the other way. "N-not that way!" He cried. "Why not? It's the exit!" I argued. "But we'll run into--" Jamie started, but was cut off.

"Jamie!!" A voice cried. We stopped, and Jamie winced," There he is.." A guy in a lab coat walked over to us," Hey Jamie! I had a feeling i'd see you here." "You always do.." Jamie muttered. "And who's your friend?" The lab coat asked. "I'm Aquila." I announced," I'm Jamie's friend." "Okay. Well, I bet he didn't mention me. He never does, but I'm Tyler, his brother." The lab coat man told me with a smile. "Step brother..." Jaime sighed. "Details, details..." Tyler said.

"Look Tyler, i'm on my lunch break--" Jamie started.  "I know. So you'd better get going." Tyler finished for him," So nice meeting you, Aquila, lovely name by the way. And Jamie, nice to see you again. See you guys later?" "Sure..." Jamie responded, walking to the exit.  We walked down an unfamiliar corridor,"Where are we going, Jamie? And tell me about talkative Tyler."

"Well, I told you I have somewhere we can eat. I'm bringing you there." We stopped at the end of the hall. He knocked on the wall twice and whispered something. The wall opened," Come on inside, Aquila." Jaime told me.

It was a small room with a desk, a pile of pillows, a bookshelf, and a table with stools. "What is this?" I asked. "I'm not really sure, but I found it a few months ago. I go here to escape from the world." Jamie explained," We're the only ones who know about this." "Cool!" I cried. We sat down at the table," Tyler isn't what you think he is..." "What?" I asked. "He acts all friendly around people, but when I'm alone, he's mean and abusive. When we were small, he beat me up several times." Jamie explained. "Why?" I asked. Jamie winced,"I-i don't know... When i first met him, he was so nice. Tyler wanted to play checkers and hide and seek with me, and then..."

"Then what?"

"He killed my cat."

I stared at Jamie. "Are you sure?" I questioned. "Yes, i'm sure!" Jamie cried,"I found Maple's mangled body in his 'labratory' in the basement. Her chest was cut open..." 

"I'm sorry for your loss.." Was all i could say.
