Chapter Five.

I breathed in Central air for the first time in a long time as we stepped off the train. It was nice to be back! Al was already rushing us to Central HeadQuarters to visit Colonel Mustang and I had no objections. Even when the Colonel was pissing me off I liked seeing Hawkeye and Havoc and all the guys! Winry was walking behind us with her head down, feeling completely out of place from what I could see. But she had no reason too, in my opinion Central was like our second home, there were always familiar faces around to greet us, and people would stare and whisper good things about the Fullmetal and his brother. I guess you can say I was enjoying the popularity I got here, back in Resembool everyone new me as little Ed. LITTLE Ed. Here I was the famous, and brave state alchemist I suppose. Before I could get away from my thoughts I head Riza welcoming us back to Central. I looked up, my eyes searching for the Colonel's. I didn't want to be caught off guard. And that's when I spotted him getting up from his huge desk.

"Good to see your doing better fullmetal." His cold vioce said with a smirk on his face. I grinded my teeth but smiled as he went on about how I had gotten myself into quite a bit of trouble, blah blah blah.

"I see your still busy pushing your way to the top." I smirked back, giving him a death glare of DOOM. Hawkeye though, as usual, interrupted us.

"I suppose your just dropping into say hello? Or is there something you're looking for Ed?" She had a sweet smile on her face that calmed my nerves a bit.

"Nah, just a visit I guess. We needed to get to the Libary to do some research. We thing we might have a lead on a alternative philosphers stone!" I said cheerfully.

"I see..." Mustang cut in, deep in thought before adding, "and as for you Winry?" I looked over at Winry and nudged her abit.

"Ehh....I guess I just came along to visit Mrs. Huges and Alicia." She finally replied. The Colonel asked for her to tell them he had said hello and that was the end of the subject. Colonel wasn't the type to get all mushy, and when he was going to he made sure he wouldn't. I liked him for that at least.

"Hey well I guess we should be on our way, I'm sure we'll meet up again soon." I cut in saying our goodbyes to the Colonel and his subordinates. And then off to the Libary we were!

A alchemist named Allen Woods tried to create a philosophers stone within hisself?! I read in one of the books I had gathered. None of this made sense though, they were all failed attemps but still, they had some good ideas. I'd only ever seen one philosphers stone in my life, the one Dr. Marco made. But of course he was no where to be found, and me and Al made a promise not to use a Philosophers Stone. We would't use something that was created by sacraficing so many people! But this one, Allen Woods attempt, was different. He apparently tried to force all the energy of his alchemy and knowledge into his core and create himself as a God in a way I suppose. It made some sence but it was useless. People who play god get something taking away from them. From the truth....I heard Winry say something, but I had no time to listen to her. All I heard was her footsteps walking away, quickly. Wait. Is Winry leaving? I looked up quickly, forcing myself out of my daze.

"Winry, wait!" I yelled, chasing after her. Finally I caught up with her as she almost got her foot out the door. She turned to look at me confused. But I couldn't speak just yet, I thought gasping for air. I had lost my breath running after her in this giant libary.

"May you should wait here till were done!" I finally let out. Winry looked angry now....oh no. I knew it was coming...And just as I saw she came running at me with her giant wrench and hit me straight in the head before I could even react. "What the hell was that for!?"

"No way am I gonna' stick around here being bored while you waste your time away reading all those stupid books! She yelled at me. At first I was dumb-founded, but than it registered....she called my research stupid.(-.-)
