Demi pulled her scarf tighter around her as she felt the cold wind hit her, it was the middle of November so of course it was cold outside and each time she breathed she could see her steam from her mouth.

She'd spent the entire day looking at different jobs and interviews but none of them spiked her interest, she wanted a job that each day was different and was adventurous. Her whole life had been boring, being homeschooled the only friend she had was Marissa then going into college wasn't better either. Where could you find a job that was both of those things?

Now she'd only just left the coffee shop with a take out coffee which she'd already learnt to love, spending the day getting used to the town was hard as so many people was there and Demi hated judging people so she left it be. She hasn't even unpacked, as she stepped into the house in the evening she'd only moved furniture around and gone shopping before she slipped into the comfortable bed while ringing her mother. Although being on her own was starting to get lonely already she promised to keep herself active and entertained.

Demi opted to take the long way around the roads to her house as she hated walking through the poor side of the town, it broke her heart seeing so many broken homes and begging children that she couldn't dare to. If she could of done anything to help them then she would, anything to help people she would do.

Loud screams where heard across the street she'd taken in the morning making her freeze at the terror, it'd came from the end of the street while Demi was in the middle. A man came running towards her, weeping and shaking.

"G-Get away! Their all cruel! Their all h-heartless! They'll all kill you!" He whimpered before rushing of in the other direction, the man looked around 45 years old but Demi knew he was poor so he might of been a little younger. Demi didn't know what to do, she didn't know if she should run or not, she didn't know why she should run or who that was. However she loved helping people and by that scream she knew at woman's needed saving so she took the wrong option to run towards the scene, nobody in the street dared to step out of their homes but watched through their windows. All in fear.

Demi finally laid eyes on them, it was dark but she seen quite clearly because of the street light above them shining down right over them but her hands removed themselves from her coat pocket unconsciously and her mouth dropped unknowingly. She was traumatised.

"P-Please don't hurt her! S-she's the only thing I h-have left." The woman pleaded, tears running down her face as she lay against the cold pavement floor. Blood ran down her dirty top and Demi knew she'd been either shot or stabbed there, something along the lines. Then, Demi's eyes torn away from the lifeless woman and towards the little girl in the corner who was silently pleading for her mothers warmth, finally Demi set her eyes on 3 men, all 3 of them was huge but the one that stood out to her was the one with the torturing smirk and devilish eyes. He terrified her the most from that look as he stepped forward to kick the woman in the face, making blood pour from her.

Demi hid in the corner, she didn't know what to do but she knew she couldn't save the injured woman however the little girl was right beside her. She didn't know Demi was there, none of them did but Demi couldn't stand to see a little girl get hurt too. So, putting all thoughts aside and risking her life she pulled the little girl roughly towards her chest just before a gun shot erupted allowing a whimper escape the cowering little girl. The woman had been shot in the head, Demi couldn't help but let out a small scream of pain for the woman and little girl before the mans eyes came of the woman who was now at rest and towards Demi and the little girl but when Demi and his eyes connected Demi felt cold, she let out a little gasp of fear before she hurriedly grabbed the little girl and took of running with her in her arms.

Demi always hated running however she was good at it, it was weird.

"Conseguirla." (Get her) The mans voice was deep and Demi sensed the deep Spanish accent before allowing a tear to fall from her eyes, she never should have gotten involved in that was all she thought as she turned the streets and she seen the figure of her new home but knew there was footsteps quick behind her and a gun shot fired just before they also turned into the same street but Demi didn't give up.

"It's okay sweetheart." Demi whispered to the little girl who's tears stained her coat jacket before suddenly everything stopped, the footsteps, the gun fires, it was silent but Demi didn't fall for it. She ran and ran until she'd gotten to her home and when she did she locked her gate and rushed to her home, her keys shaking in her hand as she opened and shut the door before locking it.

"Oh God, oh God, oh God." Demi sobbed as she gripped the little girl closer for comfort and she slid down the door, she was terrified and being strong in front of this little girl wasn't an option right now so she tried to do just that.

"O-Okay, there g-gone. Y-you can l-let go." Demi tried but the little girl was attached to her, her face wasn't seen as she was tucked into her neck but Demi noticed how her leg was cut and cussed knowingly that the bullet they'd shot had grazed he'd leg.

"Sweetheart, I need to lock everything so they can't get us. Look at me." Demi asked gently, putting the little girl on the floor only to have her stand up and look up horrified at her. The big brown eyes she'd seen the night before was now bloodshot and wide from trauma, everything else about her was the same apart from her leg.

"I'll protect you, I couldn't protect your mother but I promise I'll help you. Does your leg hurt?" Demi asked, her hand grazing over her cheek only to have the girl flinch at the contact.

"No." She squeaked while Demi stock up to walk to a security box on the wall, the little girl frowned at the unfamiliar place and tilted her head, confused. Demi suddenly lifted it up and pressed her hand against a scanner which instantly locked all doors and windows in the home. "House locked." A computer monotones voice spoke.

"Now, come with me to my room where my first aid kit is. I'll patch you up beautiful." Demi held her hand out suggestively which she had taken instantly, watching how the woman's face held fear but tired to be strong.

"You know, I never gotten your name last night." Demi tired to talk to the little girl, trying to help her warm up to her as she picked her up to press her on her bed.

"Eliza." She muttered, her tears had stopped and was now dry on her freckled face as Demi had bent down to look at her bleeding leg. "Pretty name." She complimented. She'd practiced medicine in school as one of her options as a nurse and was really good at it but Demi loved her sleep and being a nurse you wasn't getting much of it.

"It's all better. Now, could I put you in a bath?"

"Why did you tell us to stop?" The man growled as they watched the woman run down the street whimpering while Wilmer smirked at her retreating figure. Finding amusement in the horrific situation while his two employers was angry at him however he dismissed them, he was the boss and they couldn't disobey him.

"Cómo sabe que la niña? Nada. Ella no tiene ni idea de qué hacer ahora, es atrapado y ahora podemos obtener de ella en cualquier momento. Recuerda lo que siempre digo, si alguien nos ve , los matamos hagámoslo mañana porque estoy cansado." (Does she know that little girl? No. She doesn't have a clue what to do now, she's trapped and now we can get her any time. Remember what I always say, if anybody sees us, we kill them. Let's do it tomorrow because I've had enough.)
