- Hello? - I picked up the phone with my eyes closed.
- Emma! Where are you? It's 8:30, you sleepyhead - I heard Ashton's voice through the phone.
- Yeah, sorry. I'll be there in a sec.
- I don't think that's possible, but okay! - He laughed and I hung up.
I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, ate an apple and some toast, brushed my curly brown hair, and got dressed. I put on my favorite jeans, a blue and purple flannel, a gray beanie, and my converse. I went skating to Austin's new house and arrived at 9:15am. New record! Haha.
The house was amazing. With a big green front yard, three floors, and a huge wooden door with the number 17 in the middle. I opened the door and walked around. The kitchen was on the left, the stairs on the right. Pictures were hanging on every wall, in lines of three or squares of four frames. The living room had four large couches, the biggest plasma TV I've ever seen, and sound equipment. I then went to the back yard and saw the pool. Beautiful. Everything was beautiful.
- Emma? Is that you? - Luke shouted from the stairs.
- Yeah! Hey! - I shouted back.
- We're in the attic! - He said.
I ran up the stairs and ended up on the third floor where the attic was. The door was opened and there I saw the guys picking up boxes and moving stuff from one place to another.
- Look who's here! - Hailee said cheering.
- Sorry, I fell asleep - I said laughing - Did you miss me? - I winked at Hailee. Everybody laughed and I then put myself to work. I kneeled down next to a pile of vintage stuff and started looking through it. Suddenly, I felt Ashton beside me.
- I did - He whispered near my ear, just for me to hear. I turned my head and he winked at me, then stood up and returned to his cleaning area. Weird...
- Your grandpa did have a lot of things, huh? - Ally said to Austin.
- I know! He traveled a lot and brought with him lots and lots of souvenirs. He also had hundreds of photo albums! They must be somewhere in here - He said, clearly proud of his grandfather.
- I'm sure he was a great man - Luke said.
- He was - Austin said with a smile.
- Look at this! - Ashton shouted with his high pitch voice - This must be from Egypt! - He said holding a gold pyramid with both hands and walking backwards. After a few steps, his clumsiness made him drop the heavy object to the floor.
- Oh sh*t! - Ashton said.
We all stood up right away and went to where the pyramid fell. Luckily, nothing happened to it. But the floor sure received a nice bump.
- Way to go Ashton - Luke said.
- Hey guys? Come see this - Ally said, already on the floor looking at the crack. We all joined her. Austin took out the broken wood to discover a dusty rectangular metal suitcase.
- What is that? - I asked.
- I have no idea... - He replied.
- Lets open it! - Hailee said excited.
The boys tried to figure out a way to open the mystery suitcase, but it had a combination lock.
- Here, give it to me - I said, taking the suitcase from Austin's hands. I stared at the lock for a few seconds and then changed the numbers until I got them right.
17-03-44
- How did you know the combination? - Ashton asked surprised.
- The numbers are all over the house... I just had to find the correct order - I replied.
- So, what's inside? - Luke asked.
I opened the metal suitcase carefully and a dusty breeze came out, filling our faces and making us cough.
