Nobody moved. This game was starting to make us dummies. I squeezed Ashton's hand and he looked at me arching his eyebrows, I nodded and then turned to face the others.
- Lets go - I said.
After walking for a couple of hours, the only things we saw were walls, rocks, corners, and more walls. We hadn't seen water or any type of food. We had 358 Suns left. It worked like this: one Sun lasts for two hours, then a moon shows up for an hour, and then another Sun shows up in the sky with numbers in the middle, just like a countdown.
- We've been walking for hours! And I'm thirsty! - Luke complained.
- We need to find water and food asap! - Hailee said as we turned another corner. A big question mark was floating in front of us, blocking our way.
As we got closer, the floating question mark got smaller and smaller until it could fit in somebody's hand. I was about to reach it when Ally shouted 'Emma! Don't!' but I grabbed it either way. I held it in my palm when it suddenly transformed into a ball of light and shot itself up to the sky, disappearing.
There was a 'beep' sound and then the mysterious male voice talked again - What does 'Mesolithic' mean? - it made a pause and continued - A, between stones. B, old stone. C, new stone.
- What the fuck is this? - I asked confused.
- I think we are supposed to answer now - Ashton said.
- But I don't know the answer - Hailee said.
- Yeah, me neither - Austin and Ally said at the same time.
- Then just guess - I said.
- I don't know... - Luke started - B?
*Beep*
- You guessed wrong - the voice said - you have lost ten Suns.
I looked up to the Sun and saw how the numbers changed to '348'.
- What the hell was wrong with your grandpa, Austin? - Luke laughed looking at our friend - was he a History nerd or something?
- He actually was - Austin said laughing as well.
I didn't know what was so funny... our lives were in risk. Also, I could tell Luke was nervous, he's never that carefree. He usually takes life seriously.
- Guys, if we answer all of them wrong, we'll run out of time - Ashton said a little worried.
- We must focus and use our brains. We must have learned something in all our years of having History in school - I said adjusting my beanie in my head.
We kept walking and finding question marks in every single hallway. We lost 70 Suns in one hour. We were going crazy with these questions! And to be honest, I was getting desperate of not finding anything else. How were we supposed to get our golden keys?
After walking another hour, the moon showed up and we found two ways to go. A bonfire was on the right and a question mark on the left. According to the instructions, bonfires gave us challenges to do and rewards if we got them right.
- I say we should go to the bonfire - Ashton said - we might get food or something useful.
We all agreed with him and turned to the right. When we reached the flaming woods, words started to form with the ashes on the floor.
'If you want food and water, cross the flooded hallway and ring the bell at the end'
- Well that's pretty easy - Luke said with a smile on his face.
