Chapter three
Ruyasu and Daichi listened to my monologue without interrupting me once. "So... Daichi, why don't you tell Ruyasu why you want to try to clear the game?" "Well... I guess... I don't really have a reason other than just wanting to get out of here." "Really!? Is that your only reason? Just to get out?" Ruyasu asked. "Well... I haven't figured it out myself really..." Daichi said. We sat around the fire a bit, enjoying what was left of Ruyasu's fish. After a while, Daichi broke the silence by asking Ruyasu if she would like to join our party and try to find and eventually take on the dungeon.
"Yeah sure!" She said. "You're gonna need a cook eventually!" I sent her the party invite because I was the party leader, and she accepted it. "Let's get back to town, it's getting dark"
"So umm... Something we might need to discuss" I said "Me and Daichi always slept in the same room to save money, but I understand if you'd like a room of your own, and being the party leader I'll pay for your room and stuff" "Well... I mean, I would like that, but you don't have to pay for my room and stuff, I mean you're not responsible for me or anything." She said. "I insist on it, I dragged you into my party so I am sort of responsible." I said. "Well... If you insist..." She said "At least let me repay the favour by cooking for you two again!" "We'd love that!" I said.
When we arrived at the inn, I turned to Daichi and Ruyasu. "Tomorrow we leave early, we will leave at 6 AM, so set your alarms at 5 so you have plenty of time to get dressed. Sleep tight!" I turned around and walked off to my room, wondering if taking responsibility for another party member was a good idea. "Whatcha thinking about?" Daichi asked me. "Nothing much." I told him. "Goodnight." I said and jumped into bed.
5:05 AM the next morning. I woke up to the sound of my alarm, got out of bed and I swiped my fingers down in the air and equipped my gear. I looked over to the other bed to see Daichi was already up and went downstairs to eat. I went downstairs as well, and saw Daichi and Ruyasu sitting at the dinner table. As I walked over to them, they noticed me and ordered some more food from the waiter. "Goodmorning you two..." I said, still sleepy. "Goodmorning" They said in unison. We ate the food and we talked a bit. Around 6 AM we went out into the fields, trying to locate the dungeon entrance.
"Hang on... what's that over there?" Ruyasu looked over to the direction I was pointing. "Isn't that the dungeon entrance?" Ruyasu asked. "I think it is!" Daichi shouted. We all sprinted towards the entrance. When we reached it, everything fell silent. Birds that were singing suddenly stopped. Leaves didn't rustle in the wind anymore. Even the sound of our footsteps in the gravel on the floor were barely audible. "W-What's going on?" Ruyasu asked. "I don't know... I've never experienced something like this before" I said. I suddenly heard a sound and it sounded much more clear than the muffled sound of our feet. The air around us turned foggy and as I turned around, a massive spider appeared from the woods. "What in the world..." I said. "Alright. Everyone, ready your weapons. I don't think this thing will let us run away." As I pulled my sword from its sheath, and my dagger from between my belt, I heard Ruyasu readying her claws and Daichi's knives sliding out from all the loops in his belt. "Alright, listen up. We have to be careful. This is a monster we've never fought before, and I don't want any of you dying on me. So, before we go in the offense, try to figure out the attack patterns. Let's do this!!" I shouted out a warcry and ran in. I heard Ruyasu following close behind me, and I instinctively knew what was going to happen next.
