A/N: Sorry for the late updates, I've been quite busy lately. But I am going to be updating all week for this and hopefully start other stories too.
"Ging! Wait up!" Mito yells as the older boy runs through the forest.
"C'mon, Mito! Hurry up!" He would holler back to her.
The girl had lost sight of Ging, and was alone in a small corner of the woods, "Ging! Where are you?" She would shout, but there was no answer. Once again she had been left behind.
She sighed, slumping down the trunk of a tree and brought her knees to her chest. The sun was setting and she was tired. She couldn't navigate through the woods like her older cousin. She had no idea where she was, all the trees looked the same, after all.
She began drawing figures in the dirt with her hands, occupying her mind by sketching the people she knew from the village one by one.
An hour or so passed, and she began to lose hope. Would she have to stay the night out here? Had Ging forgotten her? Her eyes were watering and she was hungry.
A twig snapped, and she felt her body tense up. It could be an animal, waiting for the chance to gobble her up. She wasn't ready to die. She had just turned seven, she had barely lived her life.
"Mito?" A familiar voice calls. She could finally see a small lantern through the trees, shadows cast over her body as she silently thanked the boy.
The footsteps get closer, "Ging!" She shouts, "I'm over here!" Tears of relief escaped her eyes, he had found her again.
~Flashback x Over~
For her whole life, Mito had to keep up with Ging, and often got lost because of it. Her cousin had left her in search of something, and that something stayed in her mind throughout all these years.
She pours some more liquor into her glass. Gon is off searching for his father, getting the answers she would never be able to get.
"Ging, let the poor boy find you," she can hear a hoarse whisper escape her throat as she cradled her head in her hands.
