I turn on my side for what seemed like the millionth time that night. I could not for the life of me fall asleep. I gave up and say up just as the door to my room creaked open and a tall lean figure slipped inside. I froze in place, what the hell? I started at him for what seemed like forever before he walked over to me and lied down on the bed next to me.
"It's been a while hasn't it?" I let out a little chuckle at that.
"What are you doing here Cade?" I asked. It had been almost 3 months since I'd seen him. He had been popping in and out of my life for as long as I can remember. Him being a family friend and our sisters being attached at the hip almost all the time seeing as we lived down the street form there house. I could tell something was wrong with him even if we weeny close he would never do this unless something was really wrong.
"Oh Piper, what have I gotten myself into," he paused, very hesitant to start again. When he finally did he sat up starter and looked me square in the eyes, " I'm in serious trouble I did something extremely bad, I've lost everyone, your the only person I can turn to right now." He lets out an exasperated sign a and then said, "I can't get into details now but I got into some trouble and now these guys I meet are going to attack my family if I'm not out of the country by tomorrow." He pauses again before saying, "I don't have any friends or family to turn to here. I've made some really bad choices lately and... I'm just gonna say it" Cade looks directly into my eyes.gleaming in the dim light, "I've got two tickets to England and a distant aunt that's willing to take us in. What do you say, will you come with me?"
I think for a moment, right now my family is on the brink of tearing each other apart and my friend are nothing worth waiting for, I couldn't think of anything keeping me here. I look up at him with a devilish smile on my face, "I think it's time I go on a little adventure." His face flashes with relief at my word and sends me a grateful smile.
"We leave in five minutes." I jump out of bed and pack a small bag with only my phone and laptop with my old stuffed animal names jage wire, my wallet and keys and my sketch pad with years of drawing on it. Keeping it light with only personally items and esenchals. I am about to follow Cade out the door before I have an after thought dragging him back in by the arm and running to the wall with a big permanent marker and ski belong in large letters Off to Netherland before dashing out the door high on adrenaline from what I'm doing. I run outside and slide into the passenger set of Cade's car and slamming it shut.
I turn to him, "Step on it." Him responds by speeding down the driveway and off into the night beyond, both of us sing along loudly to the radio as the scenery passes by on our way to the airport.
