You must have heard it a lot of times by now that learning a new language is not like a math problem which you have to figure out the right answer. Always keep in mind if you don't know how to say it in Japanese, then you don't. Explain Japanese from a Japanese point of view. Take Japanese and explain how it works and forget about trying to force what you want to say in English into Japanese.
Practicing from the right answers will help you develop the good habits of formulating correct, natural and REAL Japanese sentences. Learning by examples is the main tool in mastering any languages.
