I ran.

That's all I did.

I couldn't let them catch me.

I couldn't let them use me.

"Get her! The one we just captured is escaping!" I heard them behind me.

I kept going, dashing through the white hallways, avoiding everything in sight, humans, moving carts, boxes, everything.

I was looking for the stairs.

That's when I felt them, the bullets, whizzing past my face.

I looked behind me for a split second, seeing my pursuers, machine guns in hand, trying to shoot me down.

They wanted me alive, but they didn't mind if I was injured.

The halls started to blur together, they all looked the same, with that sickly white color. That disgusting white color.

I kept turning as soon as I could, trying to cut them off.

"Sir! If she gets to the stairs, she can get out!"

"No. Let's use them."

"But sir, we're training them as we speak..."

"Who cares! I want that bloody girl and I want her now!"

Not anymore, my friend, not anymore.

I saw the stairs in front of them, leaping up the flights of steps, and dashed into the first floor of the facility.

No more sickly white walls, this time, everything looked normal.

As I burst through the doors, people gasped and took a step back, seeing me.

I ignored them and kept going, dashing through them, looking for a window, an exit, anything.

"Where is she!"

"She went that way, sir..."

"Get her!"

I noticed open brown doors. Taking my chances, and wanting to get a breather, I went in, closing the doors behind me and locking them.

It was a library, and it seemed no one was around.

Good.

Avoiding the windows that showed the halls, and could reveal my location to one of the men, I moved stealthily to a line of desks and hid under one, making myself seem as small as possible.

I breathed.

And waited.

There was silence at the moment, but who knew, maybe they sent them to get me.

I waited for what felt like an eternity, and, having not heard the doors open, I came out of my hiding spot and headed to a window, hiding under it, so no one could see me.

Still silence. I looked out the window.

No one.

The window could be opened. I slid it up, and jumped silently onto the floor. Looking all around me.

In a crouching position, I started to move through the halls, my senses on high alert for any strange movements or noises.

Where was the exit?

But, more importantly, where were all the people? Had they given up?

I kept creeping through the halls, looking for an exit. This was the first floor after all.
