you knew him. at one point in your life, you knew him. you knew his name, what neighborhood he lived in - you knew him. it was so weird to think about the fact that this person of whom you are such a big fan is from your own backyard in omaha.

if you could change the past, you hoped that you could erase all of the arguments you two shared in homeroom or the debates you had in current issues. you wished that instead of flirting through tempered tones and differing opinions, you two could have been upright and upfront with how you felt. you wished that you had never become "nate's girl" as a teasing thing because of your arguments and could have actually been nate's girl. you wished that you hadn't spent time with tim adamsen, an upperclassmen. you wish that you hadn't wanted tim so he could make you forget about nate because all that did was make nate forget about you.if you could, you would go back and time and tell your younger self to go after him - not wait for him to come to you.

but now, it was too late. you could only be on the outside looking in.
