Autum(n) Reigns

by sloanranger

Autum comes in all her glory -

in queenly colors - a trillion stories.

A harvest bounty of all things good,

though, sometimes she's misunderstood.

Presaged notes of winter weather,

when feasts and such bring us together.

Wine and foods are stored away,

to keep us on cold winter days.

Fire and woods, warm cold nights

to keep us safe from winter's plight.

And as the light does now depart,

ancient rites do cheer our hearts.

God gives the world a goodly rest

so it, and we, may be our best.

Soon enough the days get long

wild birds fly on the wing –

but love and nature sing their song,

and look – God's brought back spring!
