"I'm s-ssorry?" My words stumbled out. She left? All Em did was send me a text that we were through. No explanation as to why.

Emmy never wanted to go to a university in the first place. She was already 20 years old and would be starting a little later to be a first-year student than every other 16 & 18 year olds. Besides, she never wanted to go to a university in the first place. I know this is a piece of shit. She was going to travel the world. We were going to travel the world. She was going to express her love for people and help with charity while I worked on my music. We had a plan. None of this makes sense.

"I'm sorry sonny." The lady gave me a sly smile.

I sighed as smoke escaped from my lips from the cold London weather. "Thank you anyways. Have a nice day." I said.

"You too." The lady closed the door as I put my hands in my pockets and walked down the steps into the streets. I started walking to the nearest bus stop when I passed by a pub. I started thinking everything's over, it's worthless. One drink won't harm me. But I was bounced back to reality when a few girls came out of the pub laughing. No. No more drinking, I told myself. I need to get myself together. Someway I will get Em back and I don't need to ruin my liver anymore.

I kept on walking to the bus stop settling down on a bench once I got there. I tried keeping my hands warm by blowing on them with my hot breath and kept my hood on my jumper up. As soon as my bus arrived, snow flurries started to fall from grey, wintery sky. I got up and walked up to the large red vehicle, paying £2.

*10 minutes later*

I arrived to my apartment and walked inside the lonely 2 bedroom place. I walked to a drawer inside my closet, taking out a black iPhone that hadn't been turned on for what seemed like years. I held down the power button until a silver apple popped up on the screen. Once it was on I had over 100 missed phone calls and 200 text messages. I turned my phone of the night Em texted me it was over, which was 7 weeks ago. I checked my voice mails. *75 new voice mails* about half was from friends and relatives and the other half was from my mother. Oh shit. My mum must think I'm lying in a ditch somewhere. Every time someone came to my door, I stayed quiet and never answered. I just took long hot showers and drank away my pain, rarely leaving except for the 3 AM trips to the liquor store. The only productive thing I did the whole 7 weeks was write songs. The night Em and I broke up, I wrote "moments" which I gave to One Direction to put on their new album.

All of a sudden a picture of me and my mum appeared on my screen and the telephone ringtone started playing. *MUM CALLING* I pressed answer and brought the phone up to my ear.

"Hello? Mum?" I answered.

"Oh my god Eddy-"my mum paused, and I heard her start to cry. "Are you alright? Hurt? Broken?"

"Mum, I'm fine. Just a little bruised on the inside."

"I've been so worried. I sent your brother 10 times to check on you and you never answered your door and neither you nor Em answered your phones. I thought maybe you guys had gone out of the country without me knowing."

"Em hasn't answered her phone?" I asked, confused.

"No it keeps saying her number is no longer available. And her parents have been in Ireland on business, but I was told she is attending a university in Bristol. Is that so?" So I've been told. She even changed her number?

"Mum, Em and I broke up. That's why I haven't been in contact for 7 weeks..." I trailed off wanting to curl up in a ball and stop talking.

"Oh Eddy. I'm so sorry honey. I can't imagine how much pain you must be in. I still can't believe you thought it was okay to go MIA on us. I about called the police after you wouldn't answer your phone the first 10 times but Matthew said that neighbors saw you once and a while leave your apartment." My mum told me. Thank god the police weren't called. I'm so glad I have neighbors who pay attention. "Why don't you come visit Framlingham?" My mum asked me to come home.

"Eh- I don't know..." I thought out loud.

"Like I said, the Cox's are out of town so you don't even have to worry about seeing Em. I think it will be better than being cooped up in that apartment in London." She informed me. Mine and Em's family had been neighbors since I was 3 years old, so for about 17 years old. I thought long and hard about coming home. "Ed?"

"Alright I'll come home for a little a while." I told her. Not sure how a 'while' is.

My mum sighed, "thank god. You'll be home just around Christmas break."

My eyes widened. "What day is it?" I asked surprised.

"December 17th, 2011, honey. You missed Thanksgiving." My mum laughed. That's right. I stopped my communication at the very end of October. No wonder it was snowing outside.

"Oh, okay. Mum I know what year it is. It's only been 7 weeks not 7 years." I tried playing it cool.

My mum laughed, "okay so today is Saturday, do you think you could take a train down here Monday morning and be here in the afternoon?"

"Yes, I'll be there." I promised. "I love you, mum. I'll see you and dad Monday."

"Okay Eddy, I'll see you Monday. I love you too. Bye bye." My mum then hung up.

Time to pack for the holidays.
