After a little over 2 and a half hours, I woke up to the sound of the train coming to a stop. I checked my phone *12:45 PM* I grabbed my bags and walked to the front of the station about to look for a taxi cab but was stopped by a familiar voice. "Eddy! Over here!"
I turned around to see a short, small lady with ginger hair like mine. I walked up to her, dropped my bags and hugged her. "Hi mum."
"Let me look at you." She said, backing up, examining me head to toe. "You've lost a lost of weight honey." Now that I thought about it, I hadn't eaten a good meal in 7 weeks.
"Imogen, that's what happens to a boy going through a tough breakup. Shh. Hello, son. How's it going?" My dad, made his way around from behind my mother and shook my hand.
I shook it back and nodded.
"Right. How about some lunch? I'm grilling chicken, and cooking mashed potatoes and veggies." She said trying to change the subject. Wow. Now that I think about it, I'm starving. And I missed mums cooking.
We drove down familiar streets I remember walking everyday until I moved to London in 2008. I really haven't had time to actually visit more than a couple of days in the past 3 years. I have completely forgotten about my music during the 7 weeks I went "missing" except for the few times I wrote songs and gave them to other artists to sing. Maybe the time I have home will reconnect me to my 'normal' self.
We arrived to my old home and I walked into the house being greeted by my brother and his girlfriend Dorothy. "Hey, man. How's it going?" My brother greeted and hugged me.
"It's going" I laughed.
"Hi Ed. We've missed you." Dorothy said coming up to me, giving me a big huh.
I went upstairs and put my bags in my old bedroom. It looked the same like it did 3 years ago, posters on the wall, pictures on a bulletin board of my old mates and I.
I started going through all of my messages on my phone that I never got around to looking at.
Most of them said things like "yo Ed I haven't heard from you in a while. Everything all right man? Call me back once you get the chance"
Finally I got to some from Lucy, my manager. I listened to the 20 she left. "Ed! Answer your calls or texts ASAP! Where the hell are you? You've been MIA for a month now and last I heard from you, you gave One Direction one of your songs. Call me right when you get this message. So if you're listening to this now, CALL ME." She did not sound happy.
Lunch wouldn't be ready for another 35 minutes so I called Lucy.
"EDWARD SHEERAN IS THAT YOU?" She yell into the phone.
"Hey Lucy..." I laughed into the phone.
"Don't you 'hey Lucy' me. Where have you been? You haven't been with Em have you? See, Ed. I told you she wasn't good for you and your career-"
"Lucy, we broke up 7 weeks ago. That's why I've been MIA" I told her.
"Oh... Um... Okay well hopefully you're sobered up now and if anyone asks why you've been gone for so long we can say you took a trip to South Africa or Ibetha or something like that. Okay now can you meet me at a Starbucks or something in 30 minutes?" She asked.
"About that..." I laughed. "I'm in Framlingham for the holidays."
"Ed Sheeran I'm going to shoot you. Do you know how much time i spend on you and you waste MY time on a fu-"
"Ed! Lunch is ready!" My mother called out.
"By Lucy I'll call you after Christmas! Have a great holiday. Bye!" I hung up and went downstairs.
