General Myths About Mermaid Spells and Shifting

1. Spells make you a mermaid = FALSE

Those spells are not real spells. True spells actually help with shifting, but no spell has enough energy to physically change you into a mermaid, no matter how much belief you put into it.

2. You become a mermaid when wet = SORT OF TRUE BUT MOSTLY FALSE

ONE DROP OF WATER WILL NOT MAKE YOU GROW A TAIL. You choose when you get your tail, but sometimes your mermaid side can be 'triggered', like an m-flare, by large bodies of water (being FULLY SUBMERGED in a pool, ocean, lake, etc.). You'll understand this better after m-flaring for the first time.

3. You get a top = FALSE

You can shift a few scales, but you won't actually get a top. You can always wear a bikini top though. Otherwise, you'll be swimming without anything to cover you up.

4. Mermaids get moonstruck = COMPLETELY FALSE

The full moon gives us power and helps with spells and shifting. It DOES NOT make us go crazy. Just stronger.

5. You get powers with your tail = FALSE

A power is the same thing as a 'kinesis', which can be learned by ANYONE. Powers aren't given to you once you get your tail and you can't get them through a spell. You have to put time and effort into learning a kinesis. Check out the 'psychokinesis' page on Psi Wiki to learn more.

6. You can't tell anyone or take a picture of your tail/powers = FALSE

The tail and powers you have are YOURS. Do what you'd like with them. However, I recommend keeping it a secret. It doesn't mean you have to, but they won't be magically taken away from you if you tell someone or take a picture of it.

7. You don't get to choose your tail and powers = FALSE

You get to design your tail and more in the fantasy shift. You can also learn any power/kinesis you'd like, even more than one.

8. You need a symbol to become a mermaid = FALSE

You don't NEED a symbol and it doesn't hold your power. If you want to wear a symbol, you can. However, it is for nothing other than your appearance.

9. You can't shave your legs = FALSE

This was a lie made up by a girl who claimed to be a mermaid so that her story would seem more believable. She admitted to being a fake and deleted her YouTube channel.

10. Becoming a mermaid is easy and 100% guaranteed to be safe = FALSE

Shifting is far from easy, and spells are far from being enough to get you results. Anything can become dangerous if you do it carelessly. Take your time shifting and you'll be fine. No matter how you become a mermaid, life in the ocean is hard. One of the reasons you do shifting is so that you can be prepared for that.
