I woke up panting, drenched in sweat finding Dany beside my bed. I didn't notice the knife held in my hand pointing at Danys' throat.
"Dany!" I exclaimed. I lowered the knife.
"You were having a bad dream." He said calmly.
"Go back to bed, I'll be fine." and I sent him away.
I just sat on my bed cradling my head, waiting for Dad to come back home. But I knew that he could never come back. He could never come back.

The sun was rising up. Birds singing. We always walk early to school afraid if any millitary students would come and beat us up. I looked at both Dany and Mary as we walk at the side walk. Even though they are non-identical twins, they had the same emerald green eyes and strawberry blond hair. Unlike me, dark brown hair and hazel eyes.
Suddenly Mary gasps and points to a flyer. She picked it up and read it aloud.
"Choosing ceremony. 15th September 12 00 sharp. Only the strong-hearted shall prevail."
The Elevators. 'Only the strong-hearted shall prevail'. I guess thats their tagline for this year.
"Do we have to be there Bree?" Dany asked.
"Got no choice kiddo, I'm 17." 16, 17 and 18 year old civillians must attend the choosing ceremony for the Elevators. Getting choosed to go into the Elevators programme is a dream come true for millataries not for civillians.
"I hope they don't pick you Bree." Mary said with a frown on her face.
"Hey," I went down on my knees and looked both of them. "don't worry, I'm not gonna get picked."
"But-"
"If I do, you have Caleb, right?"
"I don't want you to die Bree." Mary said on the verge of tears.
"Okay, enough of that. We have school now. Let's just focus on that okay?"
Mary nodded wiping tears off her face. Dany pats her in the back, telling her it's gonna turn out fine.
I hope it does.
