Liam's POV
I closed the door behind me and locked it. I was heading home after staying in our cabin for a night so I could study for my physics exam in peace and quiet. It was tomorrow which meant I had only tonight to study, so I wanted to get atleast one night of a good hard study session. My mom said she wanted me home tonight so I could dine with her new boyfriend. I would normally have said no but my sister was forced to ever since she got grounded for getting caught making out with her boyfriend in her room with the door closed. I love my little sister, I would do anything for her. So if I have to go to that stuuupid dinner, so be it. I won't let her suffer that alone.
I pulled onto the road and headed home. I turned up the volume of my radio and tried to think of all the bad things that could go wrong at this dinner. I started to tap my fingers to the rhythm of the beat. The reason I didn't want to go to this dinner is because he's a complete douche. He may act like a nice and selfless person, but I know who he really is. My moms only with him because he has a lot of money and she wants to feel wanted. I think that ever since my dad left her, she thinks that he left because she wasn't enough and that he didn't want her so she gets together with any man that will talk to her.
I pulled around the corner and that's when my phone buzzed. I slowed down and took out my phone. It was a text from my sister. U about here? I quickly replied saying how I was about to hit the highway and would be home in 20. I put my phone away and looked up and that's when I saw someone standing in the road. I slammed on the breaks as they collapsed. I opened up my door and got out asking if they were okay. I looked over and thats when I saw who it was. It was a girl. She was wearing black jeans that were ripped and it didn't look like they were like that when she got them. There was dirt caked all over her clothes. She was wearing a short sleeved shirt that was drenched in blood and she was so pale. Almost as if she had been drained of all blood. I bent down and lifter her head. She was so cold. She kind of reminded me of a zombie. A smile appeared on her face as she whispered,
"Ellie Wincott." Then she shut her eyes and her head rolled towards my chest. I panicked thinking she was dead but I laid a hand over her chest and felt a very slow heartbeat. I quickly picked her up and laid her in my backseat as I turned around and headed back to the cabin. One thing ran through my mind since she whispered that name:
Oh... My... God...
*****
I started pacing around the living room. I looked back through the open door of my room. She was still asleep. I began pacing again. This went on for atleast 10 minutes. Finally I stopped and went into the kitchen to drink some more coffee. I poured another glass. What should I do? Should I call the police? Should I wake her up? I have Ellie Wincott in my room! I put down the mug and began raking my hands. I was so nervous. I jumped when I heard the front door close. I went around the corner and peeked into the living room. Faith was there. My sister. I sighed and gave her a hug. I told her she didn't have to come but honestly I would've done the same. Any excuse to get out of that dinner. She pulled away.
"Ok, what was so important?" She asked. I stopped my hands and pulled her to my room. At first she didn't understand, but then after a second or so she realized who it was laying on my bed. She gasped and looked up at me. I nodded and she looked back at the girl on my bed. "Is that..." I nodded. "She's really... But everyone thought..." She sighed and we both looked at her. "Should we call the police?" She asked. I took a deep breath and walked back to the kitchen. Faith followed and stood across the island as I took the mug this time but with less shaky hands.
"Not yet." I told her. I looked over her shoulder at Ellie. I couldn't believe this girl was in our cabin, in my room. We all thought for sure that... that... I sighed internally. Faith stared at me in wonder. I couldn't imagine what Ellie was going through. That's a lot to go through. That poor girl. She just needs time.
"But Liam, that's-"
"I know!" I raised my voice. Faith stopped and looked at me apologetically. I sighed and cleared my face of all expression. I muttered an apology and rubbed my eyes with the palm of my hands. "It's just... I think she's been through enough, don't you? Let's just... let's just give her a day to herself before..." I trailed off. I didn't finish. We both knew what was going to happen when we call the police. We both looked at her. We both looked at the girl who's been missing for 8 months and thought to be dead.
