You have been waiting your entire life for this, but now that you're here, you are absolutely miserable. You have just set foot in your new high school, but you are already able to tell that you don't belong here. Everyone here is just so much...better. Prettier, taller, more confident. Meanwhile, 90% of the people you meet think that you are a seventh grader. You just feel as though you shouldn't be here.
You reach your first period class a few minutes before the bell rings. You'd rather be labelled as a good girl for getting to class early than come in late and embarrass yourself. Now you have to pick where to sit. You know that all of the smart kids (with whom you do not want to be associated with for fear of being called a nerd) sit in the front, and the popular kids sit in the back. You take your seat in the middle of the room and wait for class to start. In about three minutes, the bell rings, and the rest of the students (who have been socializing with their friends, unlike you) sit down immediately. You, without much surprise, notice that no one is sitting next to you, but you can't help but wonder who the missing student is.
The teacher, Y/T/N, begins to call roll, when suddenly, someone burst through the door. You look up to see a cute boy with brown hair. You feel as though you've seen him before, but you can't quite remember where. Y/T/N glares at him, and the familiar-looking boy blushes.
"Take your seat," your teacher orders, clearly unhappy at having been interrupted during roll call.
Suddenly, you realize that the only empty seat in the class is next to you. Please don't sit next to me. Please don't sit next to me, you beg silently. Nevertheless, the boy sit down at the desk next to you and smiles softly at you. You feel the blood rush to your cheeks and quickly turn away in a futile attempt to hide the fact that you are blushing.
Y/T/N continues roll call, and after naming a few more students, he/she says, "Jacob Sartorius?"
The boy sitting next to you replies, "Here."
Suddenly, everything came together in your mind. The boy sitting next to you was Jacob Sartorius. The Jacob Sartorius. As in, the musical.ly and vine star whom you never even dreamed of seeing in person. And he was sitting right next to you. You are so busy having a mild panic attack that you don't even hear your name being called.
"Y/N? Y/N?" your teachers calls out.
You sit up in your seat. "Oh, sorry, um... I'm here. I just wasn't paying attention. Sorry." The entire class breaks out into laughter. That is, except for Jacob. He just looks at you with pity. You slump back down in your seat, trying futilely to disappear.
Soon enough, roll call is over, and class begins. You struggle to pay attention to what is going on, and instead your mind wanders to the fact that Jacob Sartorius goes to your school. And that you completely embarrassed yourself in front of Jacob Sartorius. After what seems like forever, the bell finally rings, and you pack up your books. You are almost out of the classroom when you trip, dropping the books you were carrying onto the ground. The laughter of the other students surrounds you. With tears stinging your eyes, you bend down to pick up your books. Someone else squats down next to you.
"Are you okay, Y/N?" the voice asks, handing you a few of your books. You turn to see Jacob.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine," you say quickly, taking the books from Jacob's hands and avoiding eye contact with him. Jacob helps you stand up and smiles sympathetically at you.

The rest of the day, you can't seem to forget how you embarrassed yourself in front of Jacob Sartorius twice. But one other thing comes to mind: Jacob remembered your name.
