Part 1- Getting Lost
-"Nathan"
"What?"
"I'm bored."
"Don't fucking blame me for this shit, it was you who dragged me into this mess or camping or whateverthefuck this thing is called."
Max frowned as her gaze shifted towards Nathan's sitting figure. He was sitting Indian style while she laid on her bad, hands behind her head.
Why is she even hanging out with Nathan Prescott?
He wasn't like the old Nathan who smoked weed and got so high he couldn't even tell whether or not he had a dick or a vagina. Everything started to get better when she found him in the middle of the hallway. He told her everything:
The Dark Room, Jefferson, Rachel Amber, Kate.
Max brought him to David. David Madsen. Remember? The guy who kept creepy files of girls like Kate, Max. Chloe's stepdad. That police officer. Wowsers, how she mistook that guy to be as sick as Jefferson.
Jefferson was immediately arrested for his sick doing. Taking photos of innocent girls in his stupid dark room. What a sick fucker.
And who could've guessed? After Madsen reported to Sean Prescott that his son was practically being blackmailed for doing Jefferson's dirty work, Sean walked over to Nathan and pulled his son into his arms.
Well, it was a rumor.
Max hadn't been there when it happened, but the change of air in the atmosphere around Nathan and his father told it all.
Nathan actually started to smile. Laugh. And best of all, it was all genuine. Besides-
"Could you do me a favor and stop fucking staring at me like a weirdo?" Nathan sneered, giving her a dirty look. Max shuddered. Nothing would make Nathan lose his attitude.
Old habits die hard.
"Nathan," Max fell back onto her pillow and stared up at the tent's ceiling. Her eyes squinted against the glare of the sun as the warm light shone through the top, illuminating the area they occupied. Max smiled as she was reminded by the hilarious memory their multiple failed attempts at setting the shit up.
"I'm hella bored," she whined. Max would pull out her old camera to capture the memory but Nathan had made her promise 'no more photos Caulfield' fifty embarrassing pictures later.
"Then do something. It's not hard."
She scoffed. Max shifted her body, her back facing Nathan and her eyes looking at her blue bag. Her hands rummaged through the book bag, pushing contents away from one another until her fingers found the thick paper square.
Max pulled it out, opening the paper up until it took form into a picture of the woods.
"Nathan," Max called again.
"Stop fucking bothering me Freckles" Nathan retorted, his eyes still glued to the camera. Max's ear twitched at the sound of the button's click.
Max grinned before turning back to Nathan, showing him the map.
"Let's go on a hike."
Nathan's eyes finally peeled off of the camera and onto what Max was so eager to show him. His expression remained blank before his eyes turned back to his camera.
"No." He snorted. "Who wants to go on a boring hike?"
Boring ass.
"Fuck your selfie Prescott," She muttered under her breath in disappointment, then puffed out her cheeks.
