I walked into school with a smile plastered on my face. Today was a good day. I went straight to my locker hoping to see some sort of surprise. I was so excited. I was positive that my friends were going to do something amazing this year and I couldn't wait. As I got closer, my smile slowly faded. The locker looked exactly the same as every other day. Nothing was different. Sighing loudly, I re-plastered my big smile on my face and waited by my blue locker, busying myself with my crappy phone. I wasn't really sure what I was waiting for but either way nothing happened. I wasn't bombarded with birthday wishes, hugs or laughter. The bell rang signaling the start of class. I gathered my books and quickly walked outside into my math class. the teacher stood there, staring at me, I smiled at her and looked down at my hands. Was she going to say something? I hoped so. A student walked up to her, asked her a question and she turned her attention away from me. I couldn't believe it. My smile was gone, once again. The teacher then announced that we would have a free period today as a gift from her. Everyone thanked her and they started forming groups. Each and every one of them belonged with some one else. Except me. I shrugged it off, put in my earphones and blasted the volume up while I began to doodle away in my notebook for the rest of the period.
I walked into my second period French class with only thoughts of the events that would happen during lunch. Someone had to remember. My friend and seat partner sat beside me munching on her usual, everyday cookies. I smiled at her, as she talked on and on about her new house. I nodded along, waiting for the moment that would make me truly smile. It didn't happen. Class went on without anyone acknowledging my big day. The lunch bell rang just as I got a text from my best friend. The smile was back. I knew what she was going to do. She was going too surprise me with a birthday cake and candles. I love surprises. I opened her message to a shocking surprise. It said: ' needa do eng at lunch be in the library.' My heart pounded, as tears threatened to roll down my cheeks. Was she serious? She was going to do her English in the library. Out of all people, she forgot? Overwhelmed with surprise, I texted back 'k.' Now what?
