The boys with blue eyes
Chapter 7 - Something new
Sergi Roberto's P.O.V.
Alba sat there on the other side of the table biting the inside of her cheek. The silence kept growing and I was just waiting for her to speak. She started pulling at her hair and put it into a messy bun. She leaned against the table and took a deep breath. She looked up at me and then a tear escaped her eye. I now started to feel scared the fact that I didn’t know what she was going to say worried me, because I always knew she had a dark past.
“Diego,” She said and it was easy to tell that just saying this guy’s name took a lot out of her. “He was the only person back home that saw me, like you here.” She said I knew that I shouldn’t take what she just said as a compliment, from what I could tell things with this Diego guy didn’t end well. “I was living in a house with two people that despised each other but enjoyed more torturing each other than being apart.” She said and looked at her hands. It was easier for her to be looking away from me when she said these things. “My mom got pregnant when she was 16, and my grandparents forced them to get married.” She said and then another tear ran down her cheek. I wanted to reach out to hold her hand as comfort, but I thought it would be better not to. “I was just there so they could use me against each other.” She said and I wanted to cry myself.
“Alba…” I said but she stopped me.
“Let me finish.” She said shaking her hand and stood up from her chair. “Diego and I went to the same school and he was very fond of me.” She said and tried to keep herself together. “Just spit it out.” She said to herself looking at her hands. “He was the only person to talk to me, and he said a lot of pretty things and well I fell in love with him.” She said and a smile appeared across her face. “We were together for like 6 years.” She said and then turned to look at me. “But after 3 years he forced himself on me.” She said and I gestured for her to come closer to me. She did and I pulled her into my lap. I held her as I waited for her to continue.
By the way she was crying, I knew no one believed he had forced himself on her. She cried as if the tears would never end. I had so many questions now but didn’t know where to start. Would she even answer my questions? I thought to myself and knew that she wouldn’t. I let her cry in my arms until she was ready to speak. She sat up straight still sitting on my lap and looked into my eyes.
“I was confused at the time, and well I didn’t know if I was in love or not… especially after that night. I cried myself to sleep that night.” She said and then pushed away her tears. “Diego still showered me with gifts and everyone thought we were in love and up until a year ago I realized that what we had was not love. I wanted to get out and I kept telling him I was done but he never left. He would search for me and alway be there.” She said taking a deep breath. “Sergi, before I tell you the rest…” She said and caressed my cheek. “promise me you’ll keep looking at me the way you do.” She said biting her lip and I could tell this meant a lot her.
“What way?” I said wanting to know exactly what she wanted.
“Like I am just a normal girl.” She said and I half smiled.
“I promise.”
Alba’s P.O.V.
I looked away from Sergi building up the courage to tell him what happened. I knew I was messed up and I pretty much told him most of the things that made me this messed up and guarded. Sergi was different, and I kind of knew that. I knew he was nothing like Diego, because he was my friend because he actually did care… not because he knew I would worship him because I had no one else in my life.
