Leo's P.O.V
I wake up and shift in my seat to find Mike's head on my shoulder. I couldn't blame him, he became very tired from all of the crying every one did, and he was the last one kicked out of the room. Everyone was still in the waiting room, most of them sleeping except for Max who was sitting in front my me.
I kick my foot out to tap his knee "She'll be okay, Max. This isn't gonna last long." I gave him a reassuring smile and stuffed my hands in my sweatshirt pockets.
"I know, I just want to see her smile though." His fiery red hair was a mess but he simply pushed it to the side of his face.
"Trust me, we all do." I say, trying to stay as still as possible so I don't wake Mike.
"I'm gonna go clean up." He stands and heads to the men's bathroom.
I stare down at my torn at the knee leggings and made my shoes click together before Mike started to move.
"What time is it?" He said not moving from the spot.
"6:19 in the morning."
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was there." He said sitting up.
"It's okay, you were tired." I say, I could feel my face getting warm. He shrugged and went back, placing his nose next to my neck. My face was hot now, my heart was racing, my breathing shortened. I never even felt this around Charlie. What the hell is happening to me. I felt a nudge in my side.
"You like him. Trust me." Zach whispered.
"What?" I look over at him "what makes you think that?"
"You've been smiling for the past 10 minutes, your ears are red," he touches my ear "and hot, also you guys are holding hands." He points at my right hand where my hand was intertwined with Mike's.
"That's all the proof you got?" Of course I knew he was right, but I wanted to see how obvious it was.
"Well for you, yeah, but him? Well look at him."
I glance at him and he has a small smile on his face.
I look back at Zach "So what if you're right?"
He laughs then stares at my upper lip. "You're nose is bleeding."
I put my hand up to my nose and look back at it, surely enough there was blood. I let go of Mike's hand and lightly lay his head on the chair.
I move lightning fast to the bathroom, and both nostrils were oozing out blood. Dear Christ. I wash the red liquid off my face and press a paper towel to it. I stay still for a couple minutes until the bleeding stopped. I walk out of the bathroom and head to the waiting room.
I bump into something and I ended up on the floor.
"Woah, I'm sorry" I saw a hand extend toward me.
"No, it's my fault," I look up and see the British nurse "Leo, right?"
"Uh, yeah." How did this guy know me?
"I only know because people say that name you respond. That's a nasty nosebleed."
I feel something drip from my nose, again. My joints started to ache, and I felt a small bruise on the side of my stomach.
"Listen, your friend will make it out fine. But what have you heard about the independent one?"
My head instantly hurt for some odd reason. "I've heard about it."
"Well, that person will be next."
"You've must've been around some extremely ill patients because you sound crazy. A kid at my school said that and he's a first class psychopath." I try to walk away but he grabs my arm.
"You don't understand, this is all minor compared what's going to happen."
"This is minor? You're saying my best friend going into a coma for several months is minor? What about Jean? She's scaring me every second because she might leave, and you're saying that this is minor. Yeah, okay. But you get this one thing straight, you make sure she doesn't leave us, because she means a lot to the entire group and losing her is like losing happiness, and you just can't lose happiness." I tear away from his grip.
"No, it's the guy. He corrupted the innocent, and made the optimist a pessimist. Now he wants make the independent, dependent... on him."
Now this guy was officially batshit crazy.
"Whatever." I walk away, but can't help but think... was he right?

Charlie's P.O.V
Melissa is great, Melissa is beyond great. But, a couple of days ago seeing Leo down the hall made my heart beat a certain way. I decided to talk to the one person I knew I shouldn't have I asked, but I did anyway.
"Alex, what do you feel about Leo?" I ask while at lunch.
"Well, she's fun to be around, kind of cute. Why?"
"I-"
"Well I mean, I like her so that's my opinion." He said casually as he bit into his burger.
I felt like a brick hit me in the face.
"Now, what were you gonna say?"
I just shook my head, "nothing, it's fine."
He just shrugged. My phone buzzed, speaking of, it was Leo.
-at the hospital, I'll be back tomorrow to work on project.
I reply with a "okay, give Jean my best wishes."
I shut off my phone and throw my food away, not feeling hungry anymore after what he said.

Jean's P.O.V
I stare at the ceiling, wondering why this would happen to me. Why? I don't want to die, I want to live, I want to see the world, I want to see Max see me smile because he'll smile.
Trust me, you will live.
