"What do you mean she can't be found?" I asked Charles after his vague explanation of how Cerebro works.
"A mutant with a special set of powers must be shielding her." Charles seemed focused on something far away as he spoke, His arms resting on the wooden desk before him.
"She's already begun building her army." I took a step closer next to Peter, who glanced up at me from his armchair, "The sooner we capture her the better. We don't need another war on our hands."
"Can I see the necklace you plan to capture her with?" Charles asked, Peter looked from both of us with a confused look.
"I'd appreciate it if you would stop reading my thoughts." I spoke as I placed the heavy necklace on the desk.
"What's that do?" Peter asked.
"It prevents her from speaking,"
I turned my head to look at Peter, "She wore one for centuries while locked in prison.""Sounds horrible." Peter raised his eyebrows.
"Horrid are the crimes she committed." I said to him, "Over six hundred years ago she used her powers to wreak havoc among the nine realms. She commanded armies, brought down kings, empires. Many died. Good people who didn't deserve it."
"Well then she needs to pay for what she's done." Peter smiled at me.
"The sooner she's captured, the sooner I can return home." I watched Peter's smile quickly vanish.
"And that's it?" Peter spoke quickly, as Charles chuckled to himself.
"What more could you possibly want?" I asked Peter, examining his dark eyes, his adorable dimples when he smiled, and the dumbstruck face he made at the moment. I immediately regretted my thoughts.
"I- I was just asking a valid question." Peter stumbled over his words.
"Well," Charles tried to stifle his chuckle, "It's already late, there's no point in looking until tomorrow. Now if you'll excuse me, I think Peter can show you to an empty room. Goodnight."
Charles left the room with a grin on his face, leaving Peter and I alone in his study."So much for not poking in our brains." Peter mumbled as soon as Charles was out of sight.
"It must be difficult, having to listen to everything." I spoke to the hardwood floor.
"I guess." Peter got to his feet.
"So you live for thousands of years huh?" Peter asked after a moment of silence.
"That is correct." I glanced up at him, pushing all ideas about this man out of my head.
"What's that like?" He crossed his arms and leaned against the desk beside me to my left.
"Normal- for us." I paused thinking about how a mortal's life span was so fleeting. Peter's life span was running so fast compared to mine, "It must seem as forever to you." I forced a smile.
"Yeah." He smiled as I did, "I get why they thought you were gods."
"'Summon a bit of lightning, thunder and the mortal's worship you as a god.'" I chuckled, remembering what my friend had said.
"You can summon lightning?" Peter raised an eyebrow at me.
"A friend of mine can." I told him, "What is your gift?" I found myself admiring his silver hair.
He smiled, only for a second, a small gust of wind passed by and he was gone. I felt a small tap on my arm, he now stood on my right side. Goggles covered his eyes as he smiled down at me."You can teleport?" I looked up at him.
"Not quite." He smiled, this time I saw it as he left the room in the blink of an eye and then darted back, standing a foot away from me, holding two pastries.
"You're fast." I smiled as he handed me one of the pastries, then reached up taking off his goggles, placing them back up on his silver hair, his dark eyes looking into my own, "Impressive."
