We all sat in silence, staring at the clock.
"Alright, where is your father?" Lucas asked. Mr. Matthews was, evidently, nowhere to be found.
"Are we getting a sub? I don't want a sub. you never know where they've been." I turned to Farkle.
"Dude, they're people, not stray dogs." I told him. "and you seriously need to calm down."
"Skipper's right. He's one minute late. Stop overreacting."
"What if he never shows up? What if I never learn anything else? I'm going down, sir! Oh, he's not even here." He fell to the side, and I caught him, pushing him back up in his seat and holding him there.
"We lost Farkle!" Riley said.
"Matthews is out, Farkle is down, it's Maya time." Maya said, going up to the front desk.
"Farkle's fixed, no Maya time." I let him go and he fell to the other side. "You may proceed."
"During Maya time, we open the confiscation drawer and take back all the stuff from the land of unfairly taken toys."
"Maya, I don't think anybody really wants-" They all started clapping and cheering.
"Oh gosh..." I said.
"Who's is this?" Maya asked, holding up a Frisbee. A kid in the back of the room raised his hand.
"What'd I miss?" Farkle stood up, only to be nailed in the face with a Frisbee.
"Maya, he is going to walk in and catch you and you're going to be in trouble and I am here to keep you out of trouble, and I will have failed. Do you want me to fail?"
"Do you want me to show you how to have fun?"
"Behaving is fun."
"Come here!"
"I really don't want to." Riley told her.
"You come here right now. Ring Power!"
"When we say 'Ring Power' you have to. It's a rule." She explained.
"Tell me this isn't fun." Maya shot the left side of the room with a ping-pong ball gun.
"Yeah, that seems like fun, but now you did it, so I don't get to do it, so are we sitting down now?" Maya held up a second gun. "Of course there's another one!"
"Do it."
"There is nothing in this world that can make me do it."
"Ring Power."
"What'd I miss?" Farkle stood up again, only to be attacked with ping-pong balls. I walked over to his desk, resting my knee on it and peering down at him.
"Today is not your day is it?" I asked. Maya and Riley started shooting all over the room, and the rest of them started throwing stuff. I sat down, putting my head down and trying not to get hit. Mr. Matthews came in and they froze.
"When did you guys decide there are no rules in here? When did my generosity in allowing you to express yourselves make you think you could turn my class into a zoo?"
"I'm sorry." Maya and Riley said. Farkle spit out a ping-pong ball.
"I'm sorry." He said.
"I'm sorry." THe others said.
"Lucas, Skipper. Why are you the only two here that didn't say 'I'm sorry'?"
"Because I never do anything."
