Finally stepping off the stairway, your socks hit the newly waxed surface, causing your feet to be pulled out from under you.
Hitting the floor, your head wacked the bottom stair, spots twirling in your vision. Cursing your clumsiness, you pick yourself up, rubbing the back of your brusing head.
Slowly, you inch your way through the living room, which was the size of a small house, to make your way to the dining room.
Opening the double mahogany doors, your jaw drops to the ground, the sight before you something to behold.
Chairs linned the massive chestnut table, capable of holding a small army and their family as well. A glass chandelier shone thousands of small rainbows across the room, giving the eggshell white wall color. Acting like the child you never were, you place your hand through a rainbow, the vivid colors lighting up your (s/c) palm.
A rare smile graced your face as rainbows began to cover your body, laughter filling the room. Dancing around the room, you were lost in the awe of the place, until a door was forcfully opened, breaking the mood.
You quickly pulled out a chair, it scraping the floor before you sat down, hands in your lap and head bowed. A hand grabbed your shoulder, causing you to glance up, ready for a slap across the face for misbehaving.
Ocean eyes filled your vision, concern and worry filling thier endless depths. These weren't the black eyes of hate, they were a calming blue, they couldn't hurt you. A kiss on the forehead confirmed your thoughts; you were safe at last.
Blond hair tumbled in your face, connected to the same person that held the ocean in her eyes. Her pale skin was dotted with freckles, not a blemish in sight. She wrapped slender arms around you, trying to squeeze the fear out of you.
"Shush. You're safe now, no one is ever going to hurt you again." She whispered, twisting a strand your (h/c) hair inbetween her fingers.
You burried your head in her shoulders, absorbing the motherly warmpth she radiated. Your wish to believe her words, but everything had to come to an end, so would this. So, you were going to relish in it for as long as this dream lasted.
She pulled away, another voice joining the room, this one sounding like water over rocks. Looking up, you met the honey- chocolate eyes of a man, amber hair resting in curls on his head, a few blonde streaks mixed in.
His tanned skin was stretched over hidden muscles, not enough to notice by a glance, but obvious when he moved. A soft smile rested on his face, a single dimple resting in the corner of his mouth, while subtle shadows hid under his eyes.
He was dressed in a black tee, blue jeans covering his legs, while the woman was wearing a simple red dress, cutting off at her knees.
"Thank you Mrs. Muse, I appreciate you helping me calm down." You said softy, embarrased by your actions.
Her laugh filled the air, the sound of a fairy giggle excaping her mouth.
"Please, (y/n), call me Ava. I don't do well with formalities. Plus, you don't haveto thank me for helping you. You're my daughter now, I would do anything for you." She ended by kissing the top of your head, walking to the chair across from you.
"Call me Marcus, or Dad, which ever one you prefer." The man stated, ruffling your hair, going to join his wife.
Looking at the both of them, you saw key things that interested you. Ava's wedding ring has a small diamond on it, telling you that she married him before they got rich. Ava had on her wedding band, while Marcus did not, suggesting that he either forgot to put it on, or lost it. The tan line around his left ring finger tells he had forgotten to put it on, while the small bags under his eyes tell he had a rough night last night.
