Enjoy one of Lydia's most badass moments up there ^
Hope you enjoy this new chapter. I tried to make it a bit confusing because that's always how I feel when she's on screen.
A huge thanks to xxSexyDexyxx for encouraging me to keep going !
__________________________________Lydia had never felt more powerful. She could feel the energy bursting out of her palms as she was screaming her lungs out, fighting for her friends as well as herself. She blocked out their voices and struggled to recall what Meredith Walker had taught her during their time in Eichen House.
At night, when she was counting the werewolves to fall asleep (yes. the pack insisted that she'd count wolves and not sheeps because...reasons), the young banshee would sometimes consider the fact that, out of the fifty-thousand families in their dear, old town of Beacon Hills, Fate decided that giving her grandmother (and the rest of the bloodline) incredible abilities from an ancient mythical and supernatural creature, was a fantastic idea. No pressure.
Sometimes, she'd feared that her friends might actually be afraid of her. There was a time when she could barely control her screams. They are extremely lethal to animals, meaning that Humans like Mason or Stiles wouldn't able to bear them without consequences. Lydia also knew that she was to stay long on this Earth as she was the Guardian of the gates to another world she was connected with. She was way more redoutable than her friends, or anyone in the city for that matter, and, in one snap of a finger could destroy all she cherished.
Lydia did love the thrill, the adrenaline. She loved knowing that she was finally able to be a part of the fights. Sometimes, she thought back to how she had learned to protect herself with Parrish and would smile like a goof. It had been such an accomplishement in her life. Never again would be feel like the burdain of the group. There was something about punching the face of another harbinger of Death that was so appealing and somehow reassuring. She knew that they couldn't hurt each other, or that is they did, they'd be both hurt as badly. Besides, the Hellhound understood the weight that was hovering other their heads : they had been given the arduous task of finding the deceased and letting them access to the Other Life.
Why was this happenning to her ? Had she not been through enough ?
Where to begin ? She had been in a relationship with Jackson Whittemore. The most good-looking guy in school who turned out to be a snake look-a-like (they call it a kamina). Then, she was almost murdered by Peter Hale, which is what triggered her powers in the first place, and she almost lost her mind trying to get a grip on the voices that were harrassing her day and night. After that, she was strangled by her friend Derek's crazy girlfriend, was in reality, a dangerous and ancient outworldly creature who sacrified people to stay beautiful. Did normal people exist in Beacon Hills or.. ?
Do not say Stiles. Stiles is not normal. He's Stiles. And his name is Mieczyslaw for Wolf's sake !"Lydia ! We need you !"
What Lydia never talked about with her friends, was the toll being a banshee took on her. The highschooler would hear sounds that weren't real and wouldn't be differenciate them from actual noises, unless she was convinced otherwise. Her mother and all her family had thought she had gone mental when Peter almost killed her. And the old Alpha had the nerve of telling her : "I am the spark that brought out your fire sweetheart" with that repulsive smirk of his. Poor Malia.
The banshee had knowledge that most of their rescuing missions had gone well and that they had grown quite a reputation as a pack, but despite all that, couldn't bring herself to forget and mourned those they had lost along the way. Allison, Erica, Boyd, Mrs Argent and so many more. Some had done terrible actions but she never wished for any of them to die !
How many had been killed for the sake of others ? Killed because of Man's thirst for blood and his untolerance towards diversity and difference ?
"Lydia !"
Sighing, the guardian of Death turned her head towards the window. She had completely forgotten that she was in a car that her mother was driving. Natalie Martin had insisted on driving her to her pschiatrist meeting.
Lydia suddenly noticed that the roses on the bushes looked like drops of blood and was immediatly brought back to Allison's death. She had felt it. She hadn't been there to see the body dripping in the crisom liquid, but she had known in her entire soul that her friend was gone. That she had left without saying goodbye, without joking with her one last time, without any advice or snarky comments. Her friends later told her she had released the most heartwrenching wail. On her part, she hadn't realised she was screaming, she had just felt so, so empty.
God, she missed her friend.
When Lydia found out she could communicate with deceased beings, she had tried to contact her friend to know how she was doing, to get closure. But she never successed. And shestill refused to admit to herself that she had taken liking into combats because it made her feel closer to Allison, whom loved handling weapons.
When her friend passed away, Lydia occupied herself with anything whether it was singing, working out, dancing, dating, working doing several jobs at the time or doing homeworks for school. But she turned out to adore gardening. It felt as if she was getting closer to what she was, a Guardian of this Earth. The countless flowers, the smell of soil, the fauna that dwelled within the trees... All of it made her feel complete and part of something bigger. It took her mind of her sorrow and made her concentrate on other subjects.
"Lydia !"
She opened her eyes and saw a blurry Scott. He was looking at her so deeply, with vulnerable eyes like when he took Stiles and her aside to ask about something personal.
"I need you to fight okay ? Do it for our pack ! Do it for Stiles !"
What was going on ? She was in a car with her mother and-
Oh, right. It was another one of her freaky dreams, wasn't it ?
Scott's roar brought her out her fantasy. The banshee realized that she had breathed in the poison the South Dakota Pack had vaporized on them and it causes her to hide in herself, in a peaceful memory.
But she was stronger than this. Stronger than them. She would show them how a banshee protected her pack. She stood up."Everyone ! Get behind me ! Quickly !"
Out the corner of her eyes, she saw Malia and Kira dragging out Stiles' unconscious body. She felt moisture under eyes but blinked twice and focused herself on the action.
She could feel the adversary need for murder, for death. And Lydia couldn't lose anymore."Cover your ears and run ! Run ! " She pleaded Scott, who seem to be about to object.
She turned around one last time, to make sure her friends were out of danger, before liberating the most spine-chilling yelp that caused the Earth to tremble.__________________________________
