Isn't it funny how as the world mourns rape
And says no to slut shaming
It never reaches the one place it matters
How as they continue to happen
No one blinks an eye
And says no
High Schools
Where the bitter rule
And we stand in the shadows
Where social media is a measure
Where crime is good
Where it is encouraged
Isn't it funny how when rape happens in high schools
No one cares
No one's there to save you
To hold you in their arms
And tell you everything will be okay
How after it happens
The rapists are heroes
And the victim's a slut
Isn't it funny how rapists are accepted
But victims are not
How she's the problem
But never him
How guys are allowed sleep around
While girls are called hoes
How she's just a girl
But he's a big bad boy
Isn't it funny how you call her a whore
when she's fucking innocent
How when she wears makeup and clothes that don't fit
It becomes automatically okay to call her so
How she's just skin taut over bones
But you fail to see that
How she's being slut shamed
But thats apparently okay
Because she's a supposed hoe
Isn't funny how it's not just boys doing the harm
How it's girls as well
Isn't funny how our leaders just don't care
How they just ignore the pleas of girls everywhere
To do something
To save them
To help
Isn't it funny how much the power of one message is overrated
How slut shaming is not an issue deemed important and worthy
To be of careful discussion
High schools
The place the world forgets
Where rape happens
Where slut shaming is an important issue
Where genders have roles
And where we stand in the shadows.
This is nothing like high school in real life but some of the books I read on Wattpad talked about these issues so that is where the inspiration came from....
