Derek Morgan's Pov
- three years earlier -
I walked into the next room stealthily. The door was cracked and I could see a girl gagged and tied to a chair, wearing nothing but a bra and underwear. It was the same way we found the others when they were dead. Will Jackson, the unsub, was taunting the girl, the new victim, with a knife, and a gun was on the dresser.
"How could you be so stupid, Leilani? So stupid," Will said and then slammed the knife into her bare thigh. The girl, Leilani, screamed through her gag.
"Rossi." I whispered harshly, getting his attention. He turned towards he and I nodded at the door. He nodded too, indicating that it was okay to go in. I slammed he door open with my elbow.
"FBI! Hands where I can see them!" Rossi yelled and I went in after him. Will put his hands up slowly, the bloody knife still in hand, grinning like a madman.
"Drop the knife Will." I said. He let it drop to the floor. Why was he so compliant? Leilani flinched at the sound and it looked like she has been crying for a while. Rossi went to handcuff him. I put away my gun. Her leg was covered in blood, coming from the wound.
"Hey, hey. I've got you, you're safe." I said and untied her gag, and then her restraints. She sobbed more but smiled a little. I saw glasses in the floor, and held them up, trying to see if they were hers. Leilani grabbed them gratefully and placed them a little crookedly on her face.
"We need an ambulance!" I yelled out the open door, realizing the amount of blood coming out. "Quick!" Somebody got out a phone.
When I was done, I scanned the room. I couldn't find any clothes around so I took off my FBI jacket and gave it to her. Leilani weakly shrugged it on and then zipped it up. This girl was young, probably a freshman in college. She tried standing up but she crumpled to the ground.
"You're okay now. I've got you, you're safe." I reassured her and lifted her into my arms and she curled up into me, still crying. I walked out side the house and the ambulance pulled up the driveway and then braked harshly.
The paramedic opened up the doors and already had a gurney out. I placed her on it and they loaded her into the ambulance. I sat along the side.
"How is it?" I asked him. "It's not deep, but she's lost a lot of blood..."
"Alright." I said to the paramedic. "Hang on, baby girl. Don't die on me. I'll come and visit you later." I smiled and rubbed her arm. I ducted my head and got out of the ambulance. Once I got out, they closed the door and pulled out of the driveway.
"We've got him, he's on his way to jail." Hotch walked up to me. "What about the victim?"
"She's on her way to the hospital, if not already there." I said.
"Did you catch her name?" Hotch said.
"I heard Will say 'Leilani' but I don't know if it's her real name." I said.
"I found a senior college I.D. It's for the victim, 22 year old Leilani Kekoa." Reid came with a card in hand.
"That's her. Carried her to the ambulance." I said shortly. I pulled out my phone, dialing Penelope.
"What you got for me sugar?" Her voice rang.
"Hey baby girl. I need you to find out everything you can about our almost victim, Leilani Kekoa."
"Sure thing. Um," Garcia paused and then I heard furious typing. I put her on speaker for Hotch and Reid before she could talk. "She has a 24 year old sister, Kelani Kekoa, currently in the military. Leilani had military experience with an honorable discharge at 19 after her father committed suicide, also military. No criminal record as of now."
"School-wise, she hacked her way to good grades. From middle school 'till the end of high school, but strictly only fixing B's to A's. Went into several community colleges, taking psychology and sociology, all the stuff to make a profiler or an FBI agent, and hacks other websites for fun. Aced it all. Too bad she leaves internet bread crumbs. Leilani is actually a very good hacker, almost missing the list I was on. This girl is one tough cookie."
"Is that all, Garcia?" I asked.
"Yep. Call me whenever." The call was hung up.
"Wow." Reid said. "So in a nutcase, Leilani Kekoa is a military experienced hacker trained to be a profiler. She'd be good on the field or with Garcia." He then said truthfully.
Hotch scoffed and then Reid shut his mouth. "Let's get back home."
One case closed, about a million others to go.
